3. Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare Tubing: Cut the 6.5-foot airline tubing into desired lengths based on your tank setup. Ensure enough length to reach the air pump from your air stones/filters.
  2. Connect Check Valves: Attach a check valve to each length of tubing that will connect to an air stone or filter. Ensure the check valve is oriented correctly to prevent water backflow into the pump (usually indicated by an arrow on the valve pointing towards the tank).
  3. Attach Air Stones/Filters: Connect the other end of the tubing (with the check valve) to your air stones or sponge filters.
  4. Connect to Pump: Insert the free ends of the tubing into the dual outlets on the Pawfly air pump. If using only one air stone/filter, you can use the provided T-connector to combine the two outlets into one, or simply cap one outlet if not in use.
  5. Position the Pump: Place the air pump above the water level of your tank to prevent water from siphoning back into the pump in case of a power outage. The pump features 4 shockproof rubber feet to minimize vibration and noise.
  6. Power On: Plug the air pump into a suitable power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

The Pawfly AP-2491 features an adjustable airflow knob to customize the oxygen output for your specific needs.

  1. Adjust Airflow: Locate the rotatable knob on the top of the air pump.
  2. Increase Airflow: Turn the knob clockwise to increase the air volume and bubble rate.
  3. Decrease Airflow: Turn the knob counter-clockwise to decrease the air volume and bubble rate. Adjust until the desired aeration level is achieved for your tank size and inhabitants.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your air pump.

  • Air Stone Cleaning: Periodically clean air stones to prevent clogging and maintain consistent bubble output. Soak them in a diluted bleach solution or vinegar, then rinse thoroughly before re-use.
  • Tubing Inspection: Check airline tubing regularly for kinks, cracks, or blockages. Replace damaged tubing as needed.
  • Pump Placement: Ensure the pump remains in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Pawfly air pump, try the following:

  • No Air Output:
    • Check if the pump is plugged in and receiving power.
    • Ensure tubing is not kinked or blocked.
    • Verify air stones are not clogged; clean or replace if necessary.
    • Check check valve orientation.
  • Weak Airflow:
    • Adjust the airflow knob to a higher setting.
    • Clean or replace air stones.
    • Inspect tubing for leaks or partial blockages.
  • Excessive Noise:
    • Ensure the pump is placed on a flat, stable surface.
    • Verify the rubber feet are intact and properly positioned to absorb vibrations.
    • Check for any loose components or foreign objects near the pump.
