Setup Instructions
- Attach to Mask: Locate the quick-release mask strap keeper on the snorkel. Slide your diving mask strap through the opening of the keeper. Ensure the snorkel is positioned on the left side of your head for optimal comfort and function.
- Adjust Position: With the mask on your face, adjust the snorkel's height and angle so that the mouthpiece comfortably reaches your mouth without pulling on the mask or causing strain. The flexible corrugated tube allows for fine adjustments.
- Check Mouthpiece Fit: Insert the silicone mouthpiece into your mouth. Bite down gently on the tabs and ensure a secure, comfortable seal around your lips. The mouthpiece should not feel loose or cause jaw discomfort.
- Pre-Dive Check: Before entering the water, perform a quick check to ensure all connections are secure and the snorkel feels comfortable.
Operating Instructions
- Breathing on the Surface: While floating on the surface, breathe normally and deeply through the snorkel. The wide elliptical bore is designed to provide ample airflow.
- Submerging with Dry Top: When you submerge, the dry-top system's floating valve will automatically seal the breathing tube, preventing water from entering. You will not be able to inhale through the snorkel while submerged.
- Surfacing and Clearing Water: Upon surfacing, any small amount of water that may have entered the snorkel (e.g., from splashes) can be easily expelled. Exhale sharply and forcefully through the mouthpiece. The lower purge valve will allow the water to escape quickly.
- Continuous Snorkeling: Maintain a relaxed breathing pattern. If you feel any resistance or water, perform a sharp exhale to clear the snorkel.
Maintenance
- Rinse After Each Use: After every use, thoroughly rinse the snorkel with fresh, clean water. Pay special attention to the mouthpiece, dry-top mechanism, and purge valve to remove salt, sand, and chlorine.
- Inspect Components: Regularly inspect the silicone mouthpiece for tears or damage, and check the flexible tube for cracks. Ensure the dry-top valve moves freely and the purge valve is clear of debris.
- Storage: Store the snorkel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing it in a compressed or bent position to prevent permanent deformation of the flexible tube or mouthpiece.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, solvents, or chemical cleaners, as these can degrade the silicone and plastic components.
Troubleshooting
- Water Entering Snorkel:
- Issue: Water enters the snorkel while on the surface.
- Solution: Ensure the dry-top system is clean and free of debris that might prevent the floating valve from sealing properly. Check for cracks or damage in the snorkel tube.
- Issue: Water enters the snorkel after surfacing.
- Solution: Perform a stronger, sharper exhale to clear the purge valve. Ensure the purge valve is not obstructed by sand or debris.
- Difficulty Breathing:
- Issue: Breathing feels restricted.
- Solution: Check the mouthpiece and snorkel tube for any obstructions (e.g., sand, seaweed). Ensure the snorkel is not bent or kinked. Verify that the dry-top valve is not stuck in a closed position.
- Mouthpiece Discomfort:
- Issue: Jaw fatigue or discomfort from the mouthpiece.
- Solution: Adjust the snorkel's position on your mask strap to find a more natural angle. Ensure you are biting gently and not clenching your jaw. The angled silicone mouthpiece is designed to reduce fatigue, but proper adjustment is key.
