Setup

1. Connecting the Telephone

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the handset jack on the side of the telephone unit.
  2. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the 'PHONE LINE' port on the back of the telephone (refer to Figure 4).
  3. Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to your wall telephone jack.
  4. Connect the USB power cord to the '6VDC 500mA' port on the back of the telephone (refer to Figure 4).
  5. Plug the USB wall plug adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

The telephone will power on automatically. The LCD display should illuminate.

2. Initial Settings and Voice Training

Upon first use, it is recommended to adjust basic settings and train your voice for optimal performance.

  • Adjusting Ringer Volume: Use the 'RINGER' switch on the side of the phone (Figure 2) to select OFF, LO, or HI.
  • Adjusting Handset Volume: Use the 'HANDSET VOL.' switch on the side of the phone (Figure 2) to select LO, MID, or HI.
  • Adjusting Hands-Free Volume: Use the 'VOLUME' slider on the side of the phone (Figure 3) to set the desired speakerphone volume.
  • Voice Training: The phone is designed to recognize your specific speech pattern. For best results, speak clearly and consistently. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual (if provided separately) for specific voice training procedures for names and numbers.

Operating Instructions

1. Making a Call

  • Voice Dialing: When the phone is idle, simply say "Dial [name]" (for a stored voice memory) or "Dial [number]" (e.g., "Dial one two three four five six seven"). Speak clearly and at a normal pace. The phone will confirm the number and initiate the call.
  • Manual Dialing: Lift the handset or press the SPEAKER button. Dial the desired number using the keypad.
  • Redial: Press the P/REDIAL button to redial the last number called.

2. Answering a Call

  • When the phone rings, you can say "Answer" to pick up the call hands-free.
  • Alternatively, lift the handset or press the SPEAKER button.

3. Ending a Call

  • During a call, you can say "Hang up" to end the conversation hands-free.
  • Alternatively, replace the handset in its cradle or press the SPEAKER button again if using speakerphone.

4. Using Caller ID

  • The phone stores the last 80 incoming caller ID numbers.
  • When a call comes in, the Talking Caller ID feature will announce the caller's number (if enabled).
  • To review past calls, use the navigation buttons (usually located near the display) to scroll through the caller ID list.
  • You can dial back numbers from the caller ID list or delete entries. Refer to the full manual for specific button functions.

5. Other Functions

  • Mute: Press the MUTE button to temporarily silence your microphone during a call. Press again to unmute.
  • Flash: The FLASH button is used for certain phone line services (e.g., call waiting). The flash duration can be adjusted in settings (100ms, 300ms, 600ms).
  • Menu Lock: This feature prevents unauthorized changes to phone settings. Consult the full manual for activation and deactivation procedures.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the telephone with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
