  • External Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a damp, soapy cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.
  • Drip Tray: The drip tray can hold up to 8 oz of overflow. It should be emptied and cleaned regularly. Remove the drip tray and wash with warm, soapy water.

  • Carafe and Filter Basket: Wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, and reusable filter basket (if applicable) with warm, soapy water.

Descaling

Minerals in water can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. The DESCALE indicator light will illuminate when descaling is recommended.

  1. Prepare: Turn off the coffee maker. Empty the water reservoir and remove any K-Cup pods or ground coffee.
  2. Solution: Pour a full bottle of Keurig Descaling Solution into the water reservoir. If using a homemade solution (e.g., white vinegar), use 10 oz of white vinegar and 10 oz of water.
  3. First Rinse Brew (Carafe): Place the empty carafe on the heating plate. Select the 12-cup brew size and press BREW. Discard the solution once complete.
  4. First Rinse Brew (Single Serve): Place a large mug on the drip tray. Lift and lower the handle without a K-Cup. Select the 12 oz brew size and press BREW. Discard the solution once complete.
  5. Soak: Let the coffee maker stand for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Second Rinse Brews: After soaking, perform several rinse brews using only fresh water until the reservoir is empty. Repeat this process at least 3 times for both single-serve and carafe sides to ensure all descaling solution is flushed out.
  7. The DESCALE light should turn off. If it remains on, repeat the descaling process.
