4.2 Powering the Device

The E18C offers flexible power options:

  • Power-over-Ethernet (PoE): Connect a standard Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or injector to the device's LAN port. This provides both power and network connectivity.
  • 12V DC Power: Connect a 12V DC power adapter (not always included) to the device's DC power input. Ensure the power adapter meets the device's specifications.

4.3 Network Connection

Connect the device to your local network via an Ethernet cable. The E18C supports web-based configuration, requiring network access for initial setup and management.

4.4 Initial Configuration (Web Interface)

Access the device's web interface for comprehensive configuration:

  1. Ensure the device is powered on and connected to the network.
  2. Obtain the device's IP address (refer to your network's DHCP server or use a network scanner tool).
  3. Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.
  4. Enter the device's IP address into the browser's address bar.
  5. Log in using the default administrator credentials (refer to the Quick Start Guide or manufacturer's documentation for default username and password).
  6. Change the default password immediately for security purposes.
  7. Configure network settings, time, date, and other system parameters as required.

4.5 User Enrollment

Enroll users through the web interface or directly on the device:

  • Facial Recognition: Guide users to stand in front of the device's camera for enrollment. Ensure good lighting and a clear view of the face.
  • RFID Cards: Present the RFID card to the device's reader during enrollment.
  • PIN Codes: Assign unique PIN codes to users via the web interface.
  • NFC/BLE/QR Codes: Configure these methods through the web interface and associated mobile applications if applicable.

5. Operation

5.1 Access Authentication

The E18C supports multiple methods for granting access:

  • Face Recognition: Approach the device and look directly at the camera. The device will identify you and grant access if authorized.
