4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
The Glucoracy G-425-2 glucose meter requires 2 AAA batteries for operation. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity markings inside the battery compartment. Batteries are not included in the kit.
4.2. Lancing Device Assembly
Proper assembly of the lancing device is essential for comfortable and effective blood sampling. Follow these steps:
- Twist the cover of the lancing device with a click and remove it.
- Tightly insert a new lancet into the device, then twist the protective cap off the lancet.
- Snap the cover back on the lancing device.
- Rotate the cover to set the desired lancing depth (settings 1-5). A lower number indicates a shallower puncture, suitable for sensitive skin or children.

5. Operating Instructions
The Glucoracy G-425-2 Blood Glucose Monitor is designed for ease of use with its code-free design. Follow these steps for an accurate blood glucose test:
- Prepare for Testing: Wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap, then dry them completely.
- Prepare the Lancing Device: Load the lancing device with a new lancet as described in the Setup section.
- Insert Test Strip: Take one test strip from the vial and immediately close the cap. Insert the circuit end of the test strip (facing UP) into the meter until you hear a "beep". The meter will turn on automatically.
- Obtain Blood Sample: Prick the side of your fingertip with the lancing device. Slowly squeeze your finger from the base to make a blood drop appear. Wipe off the first drop of blood with a clean tissue, then gently squeeze for a second drop.
- Apply Blood Sample: Touch the tip of the test strip to the second blood drop. The blood will automatically absorb into the strip. The meter will sound a "beep" when sufficient blood is collected.
- Read Results: The meter will display your blood glucose value in 6 seconds.

7. Maintenance and Care
7.1. Test Strip Storage
To maintain the accuracy of your test strips, always close the cap of the test strip vial immediately after taking out a strip. Test strips are sensitive to moisture and light. The expiration date for test strips is typically 3 months after the first opening of the vial. It is recommended to write down the opening date on the vial.

7.2. Disposal of Used Materials
For safe and hygienic disposal of used lancets and test strips, utilize the auto-ejection buttons on both the meter and the lancing device. This minimizes direct contact with contaminated materials.
- After testing, carefully remove the test strip from the meter using the ejection button.
- Remove the lancet from the lancing device by twisting off the cap and using the ejection mechanism.
- Dispose of used lancets and test strips in a suitable sharps container or according to local regulations for biohazardous waste.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Glucoracy G-425-2 Blood Glucose Monitor, refer to the following common scenarios and solutions:
8.1. Inaccurate or Inconsistent Results
Several factors can affect the accuracy of your blood glucose readings. Consider the following:
| Factors (affect accuracy) | Solutions |
|---|---|
| Impurities on the skin (Alcohol, sweat, dirt...) | Wash/use alcohol pad and dry hands thoroughly before test |
| Not enough blood on the test strip | Ensure 0.5µL blood sample to do test |
| First drop of blood | Wipe off, then use the second drop of blood to avoid alcohol mixing |
| Test strip storage | Store in sealed container, keep them away from heat, moisture and humidity |
| Blood collection site | It's best to use a fingertip blood sample; blood from alternate sites isn't as accurate as fingertip |
| The interval between 2 same blood tests | If 2 consecutive tests are performed within 5-10 seconds using the same blood, the readings will vary slightly (within 15%) |
Table 1: Factors affecting accuracy and their solutions.
8.2. Differences in Test Results (Home vs. Hospital)
It is common to observe differences between home blood glucose test results and hospital lab results. This is primarily due to the type of blood sample used:
- Home-Test: Measures by whole blood (refers to blood samples containing red blood cells).
- Hospital-Test: Measures by plasma portion of the blood (refers to remove red blood cells).
Whole blood glucose test results are approximately 12-15% lower than lab plasma test results. For example, if your glucose meter result (whole blood) is 200 mg/dL and your lab result (plasma) is 230 mg/dL, the difference between the two is (Whole Blood Glucose - Plasma Glucose)/(Plasma*100), which results in (200-230)/230*100% ±13%, in accordance with ISO 15197.
