ATV & UTV Sprocket Set for Honda CR125 R 125

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your new ATV & UTV sprocket set, Model-GHZ59-F6265. This set is designed as a replacement for 1987-2003 Honda CR125 R 125 models, featuring a 13-tooth front sprocket and a 49-tooth rear sprocket. Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning any installation or maintenance procedures to ensure proper function and safety.

Product Overview

Front and Rear Sprocket Set

Figure 1: The sprocket set includes one silver rear sprocket with 49 teeth and one black front sprocket with 13 teeth, designed for optimal power transfer in ATV and UTV applications.

The sprocket set consists of two primary components: a front drive sprocket and a rear driven sprocket. Both are manufactured from high-quality steel to ensure durability and resistance to wear under demanding conditions. The precise tooth count and fit are engineered to meet or exceed OEM specifications for the specified Honda CR125 R 125 models.

Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your sprocket set. If you are unsure about any step, it is recommended to seek professional assistance.

Required Tools:

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the ATV/UTV on a stable, level surface. Ensure the engine is off and the vehicle is secure. Lift the rear wheel off the ground using a stand if necessary.
  2. Remove Old Components:
    • Loosen the rear axle nut and chain adjusters.
    • Break the old chain using a chain breaker tool.
    • Remove the old front sprocket cover and then the front sprocket retaining nut/clip. Carefully slide off the old front sprocket.
    • Remove the rear wheel. Unbolt and remove the old rear sprocket from the wheel hub.
  3. Clean Mounting Surfaces: Thoroughly clean the front sprocket shaft and the rear wheel hub mounting surface to remove any dirt, grease, or old threadlocker.
  4. Install New Rear Sprocket: Align the new 49-tooth rear sprocket with the bolt holes on the wheel hub. Secure it with the appropriate bolts and nuts. Torque these bolts to the manufacturer's specified values.
  5. Install New Front Sprocket: Slide the new 13-tooth front sprocket onto the output shaft. Ensure it is correctly seated and secure it with the retaining nut/clip. Torque the front sprocket nut to the manufacturer's specified values.
  6. Install New Chain: Route the new chain around both the front and rear sprockets. Connect the chain ends using the master link, ensuring it is properly secured (clip facing direction of rotation).
  7. Adjust Chain Tension: Reinstall the rear wheel. Adjust the chain tension according to your vehicle's service manual specifications. There should be a small amount of slack, typically 1-1.5 inches, but refer to your vehicle's manual for exact measurements.
  8. Final Checks: Rotate the wheel manually to ensure the chain runs smoothly and does not bind. Double-check all nuts and bolts for proper torque. Reinstall any covers removed during the process.

Operating Considerations

Once installed, the new sprocket set will affect the vehicle's gearing. A 13-tooth front and 49-tooth rear combination typically provides a balance of acceleration and top speed for off-road riding. Be aware of the following:
