NANPU Light-Duty Air Sandblaster Gun Kit

Model: NP-ASBP1-K

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the NANPU Light-Duty Air Sandblaster Gun Kit. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your sandblaster. Please read it thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

This gravity-feed sandblaster is designed for various light-duty applications, including surface preparation, paint and rust removal, and etching on materials like metal, wood, and glass. It requires an external air compressor for operation.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses or goggles, gloves, and a face shield. A respirator is highly recommended to prevent inhalation of abrasive dust.
  • Ensure proper ventilation in your work area to disperse dust and fumes.
  • Do not use the sandblaster on skin or eyes. Direct contact with abrasive media can cause severe injury.
  • Keep the sandblaster away from heat sources and open flames.
  • Do not use with incompatible materials or abrasive media not recommended for sandblasting.
  • Always follow local regulations and guidelines for sandblasting operations and disposal of used media.
  • Ensure your air compressor is adequately sized and maintained, providing sufficient air pressure and volume (90 PSI, 7 SCFM recommended).
  • Disconnect the air supply before performing any maintenance or changing accessories.

4. Setup and Assembly

  1. Prepare the Air Inlet: Apply thread seal tape to the threads of the quick connector. Screw the quick connector into the air inlet port at the bottom of the sandblaster handle. Tighten securely with a wrench.
  2. Connect to Air Compressor: Attach your air hose from the compressor to the quick connector on the sandblaster. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Install Nozzle: Ensure the metal nozzle is properly seated and secured at the front of the gun. The adjustable device at the nozzle allows for control over the blasting pattern.
  4. Load Abrasive Media: Open the gravity feed hopper lid. Place the cup-shaped filter into the hopper opening. Carefully pour your chosen abrasive media through the filter into the hopper. The filter helps prevent larger debris from clogging the gun.
  5. Select Media: The gravity feed hopper is compatible with various media types, including Silicon Carbide, Baking Soda, Sand, Aluminum Oxide Beads, Glass, and Walnut Shells. Choose the appropriate media for your application.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Wear PPE: Always ensure you are wearing all recommended personal protective equipment, including goggles, gloves, and a respirator.
  2. Prepare Work Area: Ensure the work area is well-ventilated and clear of obstructions. Protect surrounding areas from abrasive overspray.
  3. Connect Air Supply: Connect the sandblaster to an air compressor capable of providing 90 PSI operating pressure and 7 SCFM air consumption.
  4. Test Operation: Point the nozzle towards a scrap piece of material or a designated test area. Press the trigger to initiate blasting. Observe the pattern and adjust the nozzle as needed.
  5. Begin Blasting: Hold the sandblaster at an appropriate distance from the workpiece, typically 4-8 inches, and move it in a steady, even motion. Overlap passes slightly to ensure uniform coverage.
  6. Adjust Nozzle: Use the adjustable device at the nozzle to fine-tune the blasting pattern and granularity for optimal results on different surfaces and tasks.
  7. Monitor Media Level: Periodically check the abrasive media level in the hopper and refill as necessary.
  8. Finish Work: Once the task is complete, release the trigger and disconnect the air supply from the sandblaster.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sandblaster.

  • Clean After Each Use: After each use, empty any remaining abrasive media from the hopper. Disconnect the air supply and thoroughly clean the gun, especially the nozzle and internal passages, to prevent clogging.
  • Inspect Nozzle: Regularly inspect the metal nozzle for wear. A worn nozzle can reduce efficiency and alter the blasting pattern. Replace worn nozzles promptly.
  • Check Air Connections: Periodically check all air connections for leaks. Tighten as needed to maintain proper air pressure.
  • Store Properly: Store the sandblaster in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your sandblaster, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No abrasive flow or weak blast
  • Insufficient air pressure/volume from compressor
  • Clogged nozzle or internal passages
  • Moisture in air line
  • Incorrect media type or size
  • Ensure compressor meets specifications (90 PSI, 7 SCFM).
  • Clean nozzle and gun thoroughly.
  • Use an air dryer/filter on your air line.
  • Use recommended abrasive media.
Abrasive media leaks from hopper
  • Hopper lid not sealed properly
  • Damage to hopper or seals
  • Ensure hopper lid is securely closed.
  • Inspect hopper for cracks or damage; replace if necessary.
Inconsistent blasting pattern
  • Worn nozzle
  • Uneven media flow
  • Replace nozzle.
  • Ensure media is dry and free-flowing.
