3. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your G-RAID Project 2 external hard drive.

3.1 Connect Power

Connect the provided power adapter to the 19V DC port on the rear of the device and then to a power outlet. The device will power on automatically.

3.2 Connect to Computer

Use the included Thunderbolt 3 cable or USB-C to USB-A cable to connect the G-RAID Project 2 to your computer. The device features two Thunderbolt 3 ports for daisy-chaining compatible devices.

3.3 Initializing the Drive

The G-RAID Project 2 is pre-configured in RAID 0 for optimal performance. Upon first connection, your operating system may prompt you to initialize or format the drive. Follow the on-screen instructions. For macOS, use Disk Utility. For Windows, use Disk Management. It is recommended to use the default settings unless you have specific RAID configuration requirements.

3.4 Using the PRO-BLADE SSD Mag Slot

The device includes a PRO-BLADE SSD Mag slot for expanding storage and performance. To use, insert a compatible PRO-BLADE SSD Mag into the designated slot on the front of the unit. Ensure it is securely seated.

4. Operating Instructions

Once connected and initialized, the G-RAID Project 2 functions as a standard external hard drive. You can drag and drop files, or use it as a target for backup software or video editing projects.

4.1 Data Transfer

Utilize the Thunderbolt 3 connection for maximum data transfer speeds, up to 540MB/s read and 490MB/s write (for 48TB model). USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 (10Gbps) also provides high-speed transfers.

4.2 RAID Configuration

The device ships in RAID 0. Changing the RAID configuration requires advanced knowledge and should only be performed by experienced users. Refer to the advanced user guide for details on RAID management.

  • Proper Shutdown: Always safely eject or unmount the drive from your operating system before disconnecting power or data cables.
