  2. Place a cup under the coffee outlet and another under the steam wand.
  3. Plug in the machine and press the power button. The machine will begin to heat up.
  4. Once heated, run water through the coffee outlet without coffee grounds until water flows smoothly.

  6. The machine is now primed and ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Making Espresso

  1. Prepare the Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (1-cup, 2-cup, or ESE pod) into the portafilter.
  2. Add Coffee: For ground coffee, add fresh, finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Use the measuring scoop to add the correct amount. Lightly tamp the coffee grounds evenly. For ESE pods, place one pod into the ESE pod filter basket.
  3. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
  4. Place Cup: Position one or two espresso cups on the drip tray beneath the portafilter spouts. Consider using the cup warmer on top of the machine to preheat your cups.
  5. Brew Espresso: Press the 1-cup or 2-cup button. The machine will begin the pre-infusion process, followed by extraction. Monitor the pressure gauge for optimal brewing pressure (typically 9-15 bar).
  6. Stop Extraction: The machine will automatically stop after a preset volume, or you can manually stop it by pressing the button again.
  7. Remove Portafilter: Carefully twist the portafilter to the left to remove it. Dispose of the used coffee grounds/pod.

4.2 Steaming Milk

  1. Fill Milk Pitcher: Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to just below the spout.
  2. Activate Steam Function: Press the steam button. The steam indicator light will illuminate, indicating the machine is heating up for steam production.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Once the steam light is solid, open the steam knob briefly to release any condensed water from the wand. Close the knob.
  4. Froth Milk: Insert the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob fully. Angle the pitcher to create a swirling motion. For microfoam, keep the tip near the surface to incorporate air, then lower it to heat the milk.
  5. Stop Steaming: Close the steam knob when the milk reaches the desired temperature and texture.
  6. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand.

4.3 Making Cappuccino or Latte

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the indicator floats.
  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Remove spent coffee grounds and rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under running water.
  • Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after use with a damp cloth. Purge steam briefly to clear any internal residue.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

5.2 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the machine, affecting performance and taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on your water hardness and usage (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler product instructions.
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the coffee outlet and steam wand.
  4. Run half of the solution through the coffee outlet (without coffee).
  5. Run the remaining half of the solution through the steam wand.
  6. After descaling, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
  7. Run several tanks of fresh water through both the coffee outlet and steam wand to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
