5. Setup

Before first use, follow these steps to set up your grinder:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or shipping.
  2. Clean: Wash the bean hopper, bean hopper lid, grounds container, and grounds container lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the motor base with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble:
    • Place the grounds container into its designated slot on the grinder base.
    • Ensure the conical burr is properly seated in the grinding chamber.
    • Place the bean hopper onto the top of the grinder, aligning it correctly, and twist to lock it into position.
    • Place the silicone-sealed lid onto the bean hopper.
  4. Position: Place the grinder on a stable, flat, and dry surface.
  5. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. The unit is now ready for operation.

6. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to grind coffee beans with your Cuisinart grinder.

6.1 Filling the Bean Hopper

  • Remove the bean hopper lid.
  • Pour whole roasted coffee beans into the hopper. The hopper has an 8-oz capacity.
  • Replace the bean hopper lid securely.

6.2 Selecting Grind Size

The grinder offers 35 grind settings, allowing you to customize the fineness for your brewing method.

  • Rotate the grind size selector dial to your desired setting.
  • Fine: Settings 1-10 (e.g., for Espresso, Turkish Coffee).

6.3 Selecting Cup Quantity

Use the cup selector dial to choose the amount of coffee you wish to grind, from 1 to 14 cups. This automatically adjusts the grinding time.

  • Rotate the cup selector dial to the desired number of cups.
  • Alternatively, you can use the manual grind option by pressing and holding the Start/Stop button.

6.4 Grinding Process

  • Ensure the grounds container is properly seated or, if using a portafilter, position it under the grinding chute.

  • Press the Start/Stop button to begin grinding. The grinder will automatically stop once the selected quantity is reached.
  • To stop grinding manually, press the Start/Stop button again.
  • After grinding, carefully remove the grounds container or portafilter.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your grinder.

  • Always unplug the grinder before cleaning.
  • Bean Hopper and Lid: Wash in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
  • Grounds Container and Lid: Wash in warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. The anti-static design helps prevent coffee grounds from sticking.
  • Grinding Chamber and Burrs:
    • Remove the bean hopper.
    • Carefully remove the upper conical burr.

    • Reinsert the upper conical burr and replace the bean hopper, twisting to lock.
