2. Setup and Assembly

Before operating your generator, proper assembly and setup are crucial. The generator comes with most necessary components for immediate use, excluding a transfer switch and related cables for home integration.

2.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove all contents from the packaging. Inspect the generator for any signs of damage during shipping. If any damage is found, contact Champion Power Equipment customer support immediately.

2.2 Included Components

2.3 Wheel Kit and Leveling Feet Assembly

3. Operation

This section details the operational procedures for your tri-fuel portable generator, including fuel selection, starting, and power output management.

3.1 Fuel Selection and Connection

Your generator can operate on gasoline, propane (LPG), or natural gas (NG). Use the fuel select dial on the control panel to choose your desired fuel source. Ensure all fuel connections are secure before starting the generator.

• Gasoline: Fill the 7.7-gallon fuel tank with unleaded gasoline. The generator will run for approximately 8 hours at 50% load.
• Propane (LPG): Connect a 20-pound propane tank using the included 6-foot propane hose assembly. The generator will run for approximately 3 hours at 50% load.
• Natural Gas (NG): Connect to your home's natural gas source using the included 25-foot NG hose kit, which includes a female quick connect and a female flare by male NPT adapter fitting.

3.2 Starting the Generator

The generator features an electric start with a battery included. Simply use the handy rocker switch to power up the 500cc Champion engine. Cold Start Technology ensures quick starts even in cold weather conditions.

3.3 Control Panel and Intelligauge

The control panel provides access to all necessary controls and monitoring features. The Intelligauge system allows you to monitor voltage, frequency, session run time, and total run time, which is useful for tracking power output and maintenance intervals.

3.4 Power Outlets

• One 120/240V 30A locking outlet (L14-30R)
• One 120/240V 42A outlet (L14-50R)

3.6 Safety Precautions

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:

Generators must ALWAYS be used outdoors, far away from occupied buildings, with engine exhaust pointed away from people and buildings. Do NOT allow engine exhaust fumes to enter a confined area through windows, doors, vents, or other openings. This generator meets the requirements of ANSI/PGMA G300.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Champion generator.

4.1 Oil Level Check and Changes

The unit has a 1.4-quart oil capacity and features a low oil shut-off sensor to protect the engine. Regularly check the engine oil level before each use. Refer to the engine manual for recommended oil change intervals and procedures. Engine oil is included with the generator for initial use.

4.2 General Inspection

Periodically inspect the generator for loose fasteners, damaged components, or fuel leaks. Keep the generator clean and free of debris to ensure proper ventilation and cooling.

5.1 CO Shield® Carbon Monoxide Auto-Shutoff

Your generator is equipped with CO Shield® technology, which monitors the accumulation of carbon monoxide (CO), a poisonous gas produced by engine exhaust. If CO Shield® detects unsafe elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine. This is a safety feature, not a malfunction. If the generator shuts off due to CO Shield®, move the generator to an area with better ventilation and allow it to cool before attempting to restart.

NOTE:

CO Shield® is not a substitute for an indoor carbon monoxide alarm or for safe operation. Always ensure proper ventilation when operating the generator.
