  • Comfortable Playing Experience: Classic C-shaped neck for extended play without fatigue. Stainless steel, rounded frets reduce friction for bends and slides.
  • Brass Barrel Saddle: Features S-S pickups for clear, bright tones ideal for classic rock, blues, and pop. The brass barrel saddle bridge adds warmth, enhancing low and mid frequencies.
  • Tone Versatility: Three-way control system allows seamless switching between neck and bridge pickup configurations, adapting to various genres.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Inspection

Upon unboxing, carefully inspect the guitar for any visible damage. Check that all components are securely fastened. The guitar is shipped with strings, but a fresh set is recommended for optimal performance.

3.2 Tuning

Use an electronic tuner to accurately tune your guitar. The standard tuning for a 6-string guitar is E-A-D-G-B-E (from thickest to thinnest string).

3.3 Action Adjustment (Optional)

The string action (height of strings above the fretboard) is factory-set. If you prefer a different feel, the bridge saddles can be adjusted using a small hex key (not included). Lowering the action can make playing easier but may introduce fret buzz if too low. Raising it can increase sustain but requires more finger pressure.

3.4 Intonation Adjustment (Optional)

Intonation ensures that notes played at the 12th fret are in tune with the open string. If intonation is off, adjust the individual bridge saddles forward or backward using a small screwdriver until the 12th fret harmonic matches the fretted note at the 12th fret.

4. Operating the Guitar

4.1 Controls Overview

The KGD Relic Telemaster features a straightforward control layout for ease of use and tonal versatility.

  • Volume Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the guitar. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • Tone Knob: Adjusts the treble response of the pickups. Turn clockwise for a brighter, more articulate sound, and counter-clockwise for a warmer, darker tone.
  • 3-Way Pickup Selector Switch: This switch allows you to select different pickup configurations:
    • Position 1 (Neck): Activates the neck pickup for warm, full tones, ideal for rhythm and blues.
    • Position 2 (Middle): Activates both neck and bridge pickups for a balanced, articulate sound.
    • Position 3 (Bridge): Activates the bridge pickup for bright, cutting tones, suitable for lead and rock.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning will preserve your guitar's finish and components. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe down the body, neck, and hardware after each use. For a deeper clean, use guitar-specific cleaning solutions. Avoid abrasive cleaners or household chemicals.

5.2 String Replacement

Strings should be replaced regularly, depending on playing frequency and sweat acidity. Worn strings lose their tone and intonation. When replacing, change one string at a time to maintain neck tension. Use Nickel string material as specified for optimal performance.

5.3 Fretboard Care

The rosewood fingerboard benefits from occasional conditioning to prevent drying and cracking. Use a specialized fretboard conditioner every few months, or as needed, applying sparingly and wiping off excess.

5.4 Storage and Humidity

Store your guitar in a stable environment, away from extreme temperature changes and direct sunlight. Maintain a consistent humidity level (ideally 45-55%) to prevent wood warping or cracking, especially for the roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound or Weak Signal:
    • Check cable connections to the guitar and amplifier.
    • Ensure volume knob on guitar and amplifier are turned up.
    • Test with a different cable or amplifier to isolate the issue.
  • Excessive Hum or Noise:
    • Single-coil pickups can naturally produce some hum; this is normal.
    • Ensure proper grounding of your amplifier and power outlets.
    • Move away from electronic devices that may cause interference (e.g., computer monitors, fluorescent lights).
    • Check for loose wiring in the control cavity (professional inspection recommended if unsure).
  • Fret Buzz:
    • May indicate low action, uneven frets, or insufficient neck relief.
    • Adjust string action at the bridge saddles (see Section 3.3).
    • If persistent, a truss rod adjustment may be needed (recommended to be done by a qualified technician).
  • Poor Intonation:
    • Notes played higher on the neck are out of tune.
    • Adjust individual bridge saddles (see Section 3.4).
    • Ensure strings are new and properly stretched.
