4. Setup and Installation
The MINRS SY-8 water heater can be wall-mounted or freestanding. For optimal performance and longevity, vertical installation is recommended. Clear plumbing connection marks simplify the process.
Installation Steps:
- Choose Location: Select a suitable under-sink location that is stable, dry, and allows for proper ventilation. Ensure there is enough space for the unit and its connections.
- Mounting (if applicable): If wall-mounting, securely attach the unit using the provided screws and appropriate wall anchors. Ensure the unit is level.
- Water Connections: Connect the cold water inlet (blue) and hot water outlet (red) to your plumbing system. Install the safety relief valve on the cold water inlet line as per local codes. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Fill with Water: Before connecting to power, open a hot water faucet in your sink to allow air to escape and the tank to fill completely. Water should flow steadily from the faucet, indicating the tank is full. Close the faucet.
- Electrical Connection: Plug the power cord into a properly grounded 220V outlet.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your water heater.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Descaling: Depending on your water quality, mineral deposits (scale) may accumulate inside the tank. It is recommended to have the unit descaled by a qualified technician every 1-2 years to maintain heating efficiency.
- Safety Valve Check: Annually check the safety relief valve by lifting the lever. Ensure water flows freely and then reseats properly. If it does not, replace the valve.
- Winterization (if applicable): If the unit will be exposed to freezing temperatures, it must be drained completely to prevent damage. Consult a professional plumber for proper winterization procedures.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your water heater, refer to the following common problems and solutions. For problems not listed here or if solutions do not resolve the issue, contact customer support.
- No Hot Water:
- Check if the unit is plugged in and the power outlet is functional.
- Ensure the temperature control knob is not set to 'OFF' and is at a desired temperature.
- Verify that the circuit breaker has not tripped.
- Water Not Hot Enough:
- Increase the temperature setting using the control knob.
- Allow sufficient time for the water to heat up (15-30 minutes).
- Check for excessive hot water usage that might deplete the tank faster than it can reheat.
- Water Leakage:
- Inspect all plumbing connections for tightness.
- Check the safety relief valve; it may be discharging due to excessive pressure or temperature.
- If the leak is from the unit itself, immediately disconnect power and water supply, then contact customer support.
- Unusual Noises:
- Popping or rumbling noises can indicate sediment buildup in the tank. Descaling may be required.
