8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Display on Monitor:
    • Ensure all DisplayPort cables are securely connected between the computers, KVM switch, and monitor.
    • Verify that your computer has an active DisplayPort output.
    • Avoid using adapters, converter cables, or docking stations with the DisplayPort connections, as these can cause compatibility issues. Direct DisplayPort connections are recommended.
    • Ensure the KVM switch is receiving sufficient power from the connected USB 3.0 cables.
  • Keyboard/Mouse Not Responding:
    • Check that the USB 3.0 cables from both computers are correctly connected to the KVM switch.
    • Ensure your keyboard and mouse are connected to the front USB 3.0 ports on the KVM switch.
    • Some wireless keyboards/mice, especially those with proprietary dongles or advanced features, may experience intermittent connectivity or not function correctly. Using wired peripherals or standard wireless sets is recommended.
    • The KVM switch does not support switching via hotkeys. Use the physical button or desktop controller.
  • Monitor Window Rearrangement After Switching:
    • It is normal for the signal source to re-recognize monitor information during the switching process, which may cause the monitor window layout to rearrange. This is expected behavior.
  • Unsupported Peripherals:
    • The KVM switch may not support certain ultra-wide screen or ergonomic keyboards due to specific signal requirements.

9. Important Notes

  • Ensure your computer has at least one DisplayPort (DP) port for connection.
  • For optimal 8K@60Hz resolution, use high-quality DP1.4 cables.
  • The KVM switch does not include DisplayPort cables. These must be purchased separately.
  • When using adapters, converters, or docking stations, compatibility issues may arise. It is recommended to contact the seller's support prior to purchase to confirm device compatibility.

10. Warranty and Support

Your EVATEK KVM Switch comes with a standard warranty. Please refer to the included Warranty Card for specific terms and conditions.
