Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your BSA 3-9x40mm Adjustable Objective Rifle Scope. This scope is designed to withstand the reverse recoil of powerful air rifles and features fully multi-coated lenses, fast focus, an adjustable objective, low-profile zero-reset turrets, and a Mil-Dot reticle. Setup

1. Mounting the Scope

The BSA 3-9x40mm Adjustable Objective Rifle Scope comes standard with two-piece dovetail rings for mounting. Ensure your rifle has a compatible dovetail rail.

1. Attach Rings to Rifle: Secure the dovetail rings to your rifle's mounting rail. Do not overtighten.
2. Position Scope: Place the scope into the rings. Ensure the reticle is level and the scope is positioned to achieve proper eye relief.
3. Adjust Eye Relief: With the rifle shouldered, adjust the scope's position forward or backward until you achieve a full, clear field of view without any dark rings (vignetting).
4. Secure Scope: Once eye relief is set, tighten the ring screws evenly to secure the scope. Avoid overtightening, which can damage the scope tube.

2. Focusing the Reticle (Fast Focus Eyepiece)

The eyepiece features a fast-focus adjustment to ensure a sharp reticle image for your eye.

1. Point the scope at a plain, bright background (e.g., a clear sky or a blank wall).
2. Look through the scope and quickly glance away.
3. While quickly glancing back, rotate the eyepiece until the reticle appears sharp and clear. Avoid staring, as your eye may compensate for blurriness.

Operating the Scope

1. Magnification Adjustment

The scope offers variable magnification from 3x to 9x. Rotate the power ring located near the eyepiece to adjust the magnification level. The numbers on the power ring indicate the current magnification setting.

2. Adjustable Objective (Parallax Correction)

The adjustable objective (AO) ring, located at the front of the scope, allows for parallax correction and precise focusing at various distances. Parallax is the apparent shift in the reticle's position relative to the target when your eye moves. To eliminate parallax:

1. Look through the scope at your target.
2. Rotate the adjustable objective ring until the target appears sharp and clear.
3. Move your head slightly up and down, or side to side. If the reticle appears to move relative to the target, adjust the AO ring further until there is no apparent movement.

The parallax setting ranges from 10 yards to infinity.

3. Windage and Elevation Adjustments

The scope features low-profile, zero-reset turrets for windage (horizontal) and elevation (vertical) adjustments. Each click of the turret moves the point of impact by a specific amount (e.g., 1/4 MOA at 100 yards).

1. Elevation Turret: Located on top of the scope. Rotate to adjust the vertical point of impact. "UP" typically moves the impact up.
2. Windage Turret: Located on the right side of the scope. Rotate to adjust the horizontal point of impact. "R" typically moves the impact right.
3. Zero-Reset: After zeroing your scope, you can reset the turrets to "0" by lifting the turret cap, rotating it to the "0" mark, and then pushing it back down. This allows for easy return to your zero setting after making temporary adjustments.

4. Mil-Dot Reticle

Maintenance

Cleaning the Lenses

To clean the scope lenses, use a soft lens brush to remove any loose dust or debris. Then, apply a small amount of lens cleaning solution to a clean microfiber lens cloth and gently wipe the lens surfaces. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the lens coatings.

Cleaning the Scope Body

Wipe the exterior of the scope with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or fingerprints. For stubborn grime, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth. Ensure no moisture enters the turrets or other openings.

Storage

Store the scope in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, consider using a protective scope cover or case.
