HQHSGCGVA R-SPS605D DC Adjustable Power Supply User Manual

Model: R-SPS605D

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your HQHSGCGVA R-SPS605D DC Adjustable Power Supply. This device is a 60V 5A switching DC regulated bench power source designed for various applications requiring a stable and adjustable power output. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

2. Safety Instructions

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage to the device or injury, observe the following safety precautions:

  • Always connect the power supply to a grounded AC outlet.
  • Do not operate the device in wet or damp conditions.
  • Ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating. The built-in fan will activate to dissipate heat.
  • Do not open the casing; there are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Avoid short-circuiting the output terminals. The device has short-circuit protection, but prolonged short circuits should be avoided.
  • Verify the input voltage matches the power supply's rating (110V for this model).
  • Disconnect power before making any connections or disconnections to the output terminals.

3. Product Overview

The HQHSGCGVA R-SPS605D is a compact and lightweight DC power supply featuring a digital display for voltage, current, and power. It includes protection functions for over-voltage, over-current, over-heat, and short-circuit conditions.

  • Digital Display: Shows real-time voltage (V), current (A), and power (W) output.
  • VOLTAGE Knob: Adjusts the output voltage.
  • CURRENT Knob: Adjusts the output current limit.
  • POWER Button: Turns the power supply ON/OFF.
  • USB Port: Provides a standard USB output (e.g., for charging devices).
  • Output Terminals:
    • Output Negative (-): Black terminal.
    • GND (Ground): Green terminal.
    • Output Positive (+): Red terminal.

3.2 Dimensions

Dimensions of the HQHSGCGVA R-SPS605D DC power supply, showing a width of 95mm (3.7in), height of 95mm (3.7in), and depth of 200mm (7.8in).

Figure 3.2: Physical dimensions of the HQHSGCGVA R-SPS605D power supply, indicating its compact size.

The compact design of the power supply (approximately 95mm x 95mm x 200mm) allows it to save workbench space.

4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the power supply from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage.
  2. Placement: Place the power supply on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation around all sides. Do not block the ventilation openings.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided AC power cord to the power input socket on the rear of the unit, then plug the other end into a grounded 110V AC power outlet.
  4. Initial Power On: Press the POWER button on the front panel. The digital display should illuminate, showing the default voltage and current settings.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adjusting Voltage and Current

  1. Voltage Adjustment: Rotate the VOLTAGE knob clockwise to increase the output voltage and counter-clockwise to decrease it. The display will show the set voltage.
  2. Current Limit Adjustment: Rotate the CURRENT knob clockwise to increase the current limit and counter-clockwise to decrease it. This sets the maximum current the power supply will deliver. When the load draws more current than this limit, the power supply will enter constant current (CC) mode, and the output voltage will drop to maintain the set current.
  3. Pre-setting Current Limit (Recommended): To set the current limit accurately before connecting a load:
    • Turn the VOLTAGE knob to its minimum setting (fully counter-clockwise).
    • Short-circuit the positive and negative output terminals using a thick wire (briefly).
    • Adjust the CURRENT knob to the desired current limit. The display will show the current.
    • Remove the short-circuit wire.
    • Adjust the VOLTAGE knob to the desired output voltage.

5.2 Connecting a Load

  1. Ensure the power supply is OFF or the output voltage is set to zero before connecting your load.
  2. Connect the positive (+) terminal of your load to the red output terminal of the power supply.
  3. Connect the negative (-) terminal of your load to the black output terminal of the power supply.
  4. If grounding is required for your application, connect the ground terminal of your load to the green GND terminal.
  5. Once connections are secure, turn on the power supply or adjust the voltage to the desired level.

5.3 USB Output

The front panel USB port provides a standard 5V output for charging compatible devices. This output is independent of the main adjustable DC output.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power supply from the AC outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings are clear of dust and obstructions. The internal fan will operate as needed to maintain optimal temperature.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the power supply in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
  • No User Serviceable Parts: Do not attempt to open or repair the unit. This will void the warranty and may expose you to dangerous voltages.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No display/No powerPower cord not connected; Power switch off; AC outlet fault.Check power cord connection; Ensure power switch is ON; Test AC outlet with another device.
No output voltage/currentOutput terminals not connected; Voltage/Current knobs set to zero; Overload/Short-circuit protection active.Verify load connections; Adjust voltage/current knobs; Disconnect load, check for short-circuit, then re-power.
Output voltage drops under loadCurrent limit set too low; Load resistance too low.Increase current limit using the CURRENT knob; Ensure load is appropriate for the power supply's rating.
Unit feels hot, fan running loudlyNormal operation under heavy load; Blocked ventilation. This can be normal. Ensure ventilation openings are clear. If overheating persists without heavy load, contact support.
