This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, calibration, and maintenance of your GFAZXDS 30kg/0.1g Analytical Electronic Balance. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure accurate measurements and prolonged product life.

2. Package Contents

Upon opening the package, please verify that all the following items are included:

  • 1 x GFAZXDS Analytical Electronic Balance
  • 1 x Power Cord
  • 1 x User Manual (this document)
  • 2 x Screws
  • 1 x Six Angle Wrench

3. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for accurate and reliable measurements.

3.1 Placement and Environment

  • Place the balance on a stable, smooth, and level surface.
  • Avoid locations with vibrations, direct sunlight, strong air currents, or magnetic fields.
  • Maintain an ambient temperature between 41-95℉ (5-35℃) and a relative humidity level of 50-85%RH.

3.2 Leveling the Balance

The balance must be perfectly level for accurate readings. Use the adjustable feet and the horizontal bubble indicator to achieve this.

  1. Locate the adjustable knobs (feet) at the bottom of the balance.
  2. Identify the horizontal bubble indicator, typically located near the front or side of the balance.
  3. Adjust the knobs by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise until the bubble is centered within the indicator circle.

The balance can be powered via the included AC power cord or optional 9V batteries.

  • AC Power: Connect the power cord to the balance's power interface and then to a standard AC110-220V outlet.
  • Battery Power: If using batteries, insert a 9V battery into the designated compartment on the underside of the balance.

  1. Power On: Press the ON/OFF button. The display will cycle through "8.8.8.8.8.8.", "Max Capacity", and "--" before settling on "0.0", "0.00", or "0.000". It is recommended to warm up the balance for approximately 30 minutes before use for optimal accuracy.
  2. Zeroing/Tare: If the display does not show zero, or if you wish to weigh an item in a container, place the empty container on the weighing pan and press the TARE/ZERO button. The display will reset to zero.
  3. Weighing: Carefully place the object to be weighed directly onto the weighing pan, or into the tared container. The weight will be displayed on the screen.
  4. Unit Conversion: Press the UNIT button to cycle through available weighing units (e.g., grams, kilograms, ounces).
  5. Counting Function (PCS): If your model supports it, press the PCS button to enter counting mode. Follow on-screen prompts to set a sample quantity for counting identical items.
  6. Power Off: Press the ON/OFF button again to turn off the balance.

5. Calibration

Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your balance. You will need a known calibration weight for this procedure (not included).

  1. Ensure the balance is on a stable, level surface and has been warmed up for at least 30 minutes.
  2. With the balance displaying zero, press and hold the CAL button for approximately 5 seconds.
  3. The display will show "CAL" followed by a specific weight value (e.g., "CAL 10000g"). This indicates the required calibration weight.
  4. Carefully place the exact specified calibration weight onto the center of the weighing pan.
  5. Wait for the balance to stabilize and process the calibration. The display may flash or show a progress indicator.
  6. Once calibration is complete, the display will prompt you to remove the weight.
  7. Remove the calibration weight from the pan. The balance should then display "0.0", "0.00", or "0.000".
  8. Calibration is now complete.

6. Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will extend the life and accuracy of your balance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the balance with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the balance in water. Ensure no liquids enter the internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the balance in a clean, dry, and stable environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Handling: Handle the balance with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to sudden shocks, as this can damage the internal weighing mechanism.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your balance, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the balance is level.
    • Check environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air currents).
    • Recalibrate the balance using a known weight.
    • Ensure no external vibrations or magnetic fields are affecting the balance.
  • Display Shows "Err" or Error Code:
    • Power cycle the balance (turn off, wait 10 seconds, turn on).
    • Ensure the weighing pan is correctly seated and nothing is obstructing it.
    • If the error persists, contact customer support.
  • Balance Does Not Turn On:
    • Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the balance and the power outlet.
    • If using batteries, ensure they are correctly inserted and not depleted.
    • Test the power outlet with another device.
