3. Setup

3.1 Controller and Display Compatibility

This controller operates using the KT protocol and requires a compatible KT protocol display. It is essential to ensure your display is a KT series instrument product for proper functionality. A 1-to-4 cable (not included) is typically needed for connection.

3.2 Controller Wiring Instructions

Connect the corresponding line interfaces as described below. Refer to the wiring diagram for visual guidance.

  1. Motor Wire: Connect the black long wire from the controller to the motor.
  2. Power Cord: Connect the red and black single big wires to the battery power source. Ensure correct polarity.
  3. One-for-Four/One-for-Five Cable: Connect the black long wire (fine hole) to the 1-to-4 or 1-to-5 cable (9 cores) for connecting multiple accessories.
  4. Light Line: Connect the black wire with a red head to the bicycle's light system.
  5. Power Assist Sensor Wire: Connect the black wire with a yellow head to the power assist sensor.
  6. Throttle Connection: Connect the throttle cable. Pay close attention to the red and black lines in the throttle connection; they must be connected correspondingly.
  7. Phase Position Lines: Connect the blue, green, and yellow phase position lines. Ensure the colors correspond correctly between the controller and the motor.
  8. Hall Sensor: Connect the Hall sensor wires, ensuring color-corresponding connections.
  9. Display Connection: Connect the display cable to the designated port on the controller.
  10. E-Brakes: Connect the two E-brake cables.

3.3 Display Connection and Testing

After all connections are made, you can test the display functionality.

  • Power On: Long press the power button on the display to turn it on.
  • Basic Display: The display will show speed, PAS level, battery level, total mileage, single mileage, light indication, single trip time, and error codes.
  • USB Charging: The LCD8HU display includes a USB charge socket (5V 500mA output) for charging mobile phones.

4. Operating the KT LCD8HU Display

4.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Long press the power button to turn the display on or off.
  • Adjust PAS Parameters: Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the Power Assist System (PAS) parameters.
  • Headlight Control: Hold the '+' button to turn on the backlight and headlights simultaneously. Hold it again to turn them off.
  • 6km/h Push Mode: Hold the '-' button to enter 6km/h push mode. The vehicle will move forward with a stable speed. Release the button to exit this mode.

4.2 Parameter Settings (P01-P20)

To enter parameter setting mode, long press the '+' and '-' buttons simultaneously. Use the power button to cycle through parameters (P01-P20) and the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust values. Long press the power button to exit parameter setting mode.
