Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Rado DiaStar Original Open Heart Automatic Watch. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your timepiece.
The Rado DiaStar Original Open Heart watch features a Swiss automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve, a rose gold PVD coated hardmetal bezel, a stainless steel middle part, and a vertical faceted sapphire crystal. The dial showcases a brown sunray pattern with rose gold colored bevels and 6 cubic zirconia, revealing the intricate automatic movement.
Setup
1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove the watch from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. Ensure all protective films are removed from the crystal, case back, and bracelet.
2. Winding the Watch
Your Rado DiaStar Original is an automatic watch, meaning it is powered by the motion of your wrist. However, for the first use or if the watch has stopped, it is recommended to manually wind it.
- To manually wind, ensure the crown is in position 1 (fully pushed in).
- Turn the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times. This will initiate the movement and build up an initial power reserve.
Once worn, the automatic movement will continue to wind the watch with your natural wrist movements.
3. Setting the Time
To set the time on your watch:
- Pull the crown out to position 2.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 1 (fully pushed in) to engage the movement and ensure water resistance.

4. Adjusting the Bracelet
The watch features a folded rose gold PVD stainless steel bracelet. For optimal comfort and security, the bracelet should fit snugly but not too tightly on your wrist. Adjustments typically involve removing or adding links, which should be performed by a qualified watchmaker or jeweler.

Operating the Watch
Wearing the Watch
Wear your Rado DiaStar Original watch regularly to keep its automatic movement powered. Consistent wear ensures the mainspring remains wound, maintaining the 80-hour power reserve. The watch is designed for daily wear and will self-wind with your natural arm movements.

Power Reserve
The Rado R764 automatic movement offers an impressive 80 hours of power reserve. If the watch is fully wound and then left unworn, it will continue to run for approximately 80 hours before stopping. To restart, simply wear the watch or manually wind it as described in the Setup section.
Maintenance
Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch:
- Wipe the case, sapphire crystal, and bracelet with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth regularly.
- For more thorough cleaning, especially after exposure to saltwater or perspiration, use a soft brush and mild soapy water. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before cleaning. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
Water Resistance
Your Rado DiaStar Original watch is water-resistant up to 3 bar (30 meters). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance.
Storage
When not wearing your watch for an extended period, store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.
Professional Servicing
For optimal performance and to preserve its value, it is recommended to have your Rado watch serviced by an authorized Rado service center every 3-5 years. Regular servicing includes checking the movement, replacing seals, and ensuring water resistance.
Troubleshooting
Watch Not Running
If your automatic watch has stopped, it likely needs to be wound. Manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 20-30 times while it is in position 1 (fully pushed in). Then, wear the watch for several hours to allow the automatic movement to build up its power reserve.
Time Inaccuracy
Minor variations in timekeeping are normal for mechanical watches. However, if you notice significant or consistent inaccuracy, it may indicate a need for servicing. Avoid exposing the watch to strong magnetic fields, as these can affect timekeeping accuracy.
Water Exposure Beyond Resistance
If your watch is exposed to water beyond its 3 bar resistance, or if you notice condensation under the crystal, immediately take it to an authorized Rado service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself.
