This diagram illustrates the watch's main functions: the chronograph minute sub-dial, 24-hour sub-dial, chronograph second sub-dial, date display, and the crown/pushers for adjustment.

  • Crown: Used for setting time and date.
  • Pushers: Used to operate the chronograph functions.
  • Chronograph Sub-dials: Measure elapsed time in seconds and minutes.
  • 24-Hour Sub-dial: Displays time in a 24-hour format.
  • Date Display: Shows the current date.
  • Luminous Hands/Markers: Glow in the dark after absorbing sufficient light.

Setup Instructions

1. Setting Time and Date

  1. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to the second position. Rotate the crown to adjust the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Push the crown back in to the first position to start the watch.
  2. Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to the first position. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism. Push the crown back in to secure the date.

2. Adjusting the Watch Band

If your watch comes with a metal bracelet, you may need to adjust its length by removing or adding links. A link removal tool is typically included with the watch. For leather straps, adjust using the buckle holes.

To remove links from a metal bracelet:

  1. Identify the small arrows on the inside of the bracelet links, indicating the direction to push the pins.
  2. Place the bracelet in the link removal tool, aligning the pin with the tool's pusher.
  3. Carefully turn the screw on the tool to push the pin out.
  4. Remove the desired number of links.
  5. Reassemble the bracelet by inserting the pins in the opposite direction of the arrows.

Operating Instructions

1. Using the Chronograph

The chronograph function allows you to measure elapsed time. Refer to Figure 2 for button identification.

  1. Start: Press the top pusher to start the chronograph. The chronograph second hand will begin to move.
  2. Stop: Press the top pusher again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time can be read from the chronograph sub-dials.
  3. Reset: After stopping, press the bottom pusher to reset the chronograph hands to their zero positions.

2. Luminous Feature

The watch hands and markers are coated with a luminous material. After exposure to light, they will glow in dark environments, providing visibility. The intensity and duration of the glow depend on the amount and duration of light exposure.

Maintenance

1. Water Resistance

Your BENYAR BY-5160 watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters (3 ATM). This means it is suitable for daily use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water, such as rain or hand washing. It is not recommended for showering, swimming, diving, or any activities involving prolonged water exposure or high-pressure water.

2. Cleaning and Care

  • Wipe the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or strong magnetic fields.
  • Do not use chemical cleaners, solvents, or detergents on the watch, as these can damage the finish or seals.
  • If the watch gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

3. Battery Replacement

The watch uses 1 LR44 battery. Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance seal is maintained.

Troubleshooting

1. Chronograph Not Resetting Properly

If the chronograph hands do not reset to zero or start mid-cycle, a hard reset may be required. This is common for watches with Seiko clone movements.

  1. Pull the crown out to the second position (time setting position).
  2. Press the top pusher to advance the split second sub-dial hand. Each press moves it one step; a steady press moves it quickly. Align it to zero.
  3. Press the bottom pusher to advance the second and minute chronograph hands. Each press moves the second hand one step; a steady press moves the minute dial. Align both to zero.
  4. Once all chronograph hands are aligned to zero, push the crown back in.

2. Watch Not Keeping Accurate Time

If the watch is not keeping accurate time, it may indicate a low battery or a need for servicing. Consult a professional watch technician.
