5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
2. Insert two (2) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Initial Calibration

Proper calibration is crucial for accurate detection. Always calibrate the device before each use and when switching between detection modes.

• For Stud Scan Mode: Place the device flat against the wall where you intend to scan. Press and hold the scan button until calibration is complete (usually indicated by a beep or stable display).
• For Metal/AC Scan Modes: Hold the device in the air, away from any walls or metal objects. Press and hold the scan button until calibration is complete.

6. Operating Modes

6.1 General Operation

1. Press the power button to turn on the device.
2. Use the mode selection button to cycle through the available scanning modes (Stud Scan, Metal Scan, AC Scan).
3. Perform calibration as described in Section 5.2 for the selected mode.
4. Slowly slide the device horizontally across the surface. The LCD display will show indicators for detected objects, signal strength, and approximate depth. An audible alert will sound when an object is found.

6.2 Stud Scan Mode

This mode is used to locate the edges and center of wooden studs behind drywall. It offers three depth settings: 0.5 inch (12mm), 1 inch (25mm), and 1.5 inches (38mm). Select the appropriate depth based on wall thickness.
