Setup

1. Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge your headset using the provided USB Type C Charging Cable. Connect the USB-C end to the headset's charging port and the USB-A end to a powered USB port (e.g., computer, wall adapter). The LED indicator on the headset will show charging status.

2. Attaching the Microphone

3. Connecting to Devices

The Razer Barracuda X Chroma supports two primary wireless connection methods: Razer HyperSpeed Wireless (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth.

3.1. Razer HyperSpeed Wireless (2.4 GHz) for PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch (Docked)

  1. Plug the USB Type C Razer HyperSpeed Wireless Dongle into an available USB-C port on your device. If your device only has USB-A ports, use the provided Type C to Type A adapter.
  2. Power on your headset. It should automatically connect to the dongle.
  3. Ensure the headset is selected as the audio input and output device in your system's sound settings.

3.2. Bluetooth for Mobile Devices, Nintendo Switch (Handheld)

  1. With the headset powered on, press and hold the SmartSwitch button (refer to the Operating section for button location) until the LED indicator blinks blue, indicating Bluetooth pairing mode.

4. Software Installation (Recommended)

For advanced customization, including Chroma RGB lighting effects, audio equalization, and firmware updates, download and install the Razer Audio App on your mobile device or Razer Synapse on your PC. Regular firmware updates ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

Operating the Headset

1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds to turn the headset on or off.

2. Razer SmartSwitch Dual Wireless

The SmartSwitch feature allows you to seamlessly switch between 2.4 GHz Razer HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth connections. This is useful for transitioning between gaming on a PC/console and taking calls on a smartphone.

  • Toggle Connection: Double-press the SmartSwitch button to switch between the active 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connections.
  • Incoming Calls: When connected via 2.4 GHz and a Bluetooth device is paired, incoming calls on the Bluetooth device will automatically switch the headset to the Bluetooth connection. After the call, the headset will revert to the 2.4 GHz connection.

3. Volume Control
