1. Introduction
This instruction manual provides detailed guidance for the operation and maintenance of the KYKYK 3nh NR20XE Digital Colorimeter. This portable, high-precision color analyzer is designed for accurate color measurement in various industrial applications. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure correct operation and to prevent damage.
2. Product Overview
2.1 Key Features
- Vertical Structure: Designed to ensure the body remains upright during measurement, allowing only the measuring aperture to contact the object. This design minimizes contamination of the instrument and the measured object, particularly useful for items like fresh meat.
- Optical Geometry: Utilizes 45/0° optical geometry for precise color analysis.
- Measuring Aperture: Features a 20mm large measuring aperture for versatile application.
- High Accuracy: Delivers high measuring accuracy and performance suitable for demanding quality control.
- Broad Application: Meets quality control requirements in industries such as plastics (PET, PE, PP, PTA, ABS, EVA particles and powder), color steel plate, coatings, textiles, fluorescent materials, denim, medicine, and food.
2.2 Components
The KYKYK 3nh NR20XE Colorimeter consists of a main body with a display screen, control buttons, a measurement aperture, and a power input port.

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the colorimeter and all accessories from the packaging. Verify that all components are present and undamaged. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
3.2 Charging the Battery
The device is powered by a Li-ion 3.7V=0.5A battery. Before initial use, fully charge the battery using the provided AC adapter (5V=0.5A). Connect the adapter to the device's power input port and plug it into a suitable power outlet. The charging indicator on the device will show the charging status.
3.3 Initial Calibration
For accurate measurements, perform an initial calibration. Refer to the on-screen prompts or the device's menu for the calibration procedure. Typically, this involves placing a white calibration tile on the measurement aperture and initiating the calibration sequence.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the device, press and hold the power button until the display illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the device shuts down.
4.2 Standard Measurement
- Ensure the device is calibrated.
- Navigate to the 'Standard Measurement' mode on the display.
- Place the standard sample firmly against the measurement aperture, ensuring no light leakage.
- Press the measurement button. The display will show the color values (e.g., L*, a*, b*).
- Record or save the measurement as required.

4.3 Sample Measurement and Color Difference Analysis
- After establishing a standard measurement, navigate to the 'Sample Measurement' mode.
- Place the sample to be measured firmly against the measurement aperture.
- Press the measurement button. The display will show the sample's color values and the color difference (ΔL*, Δa*, Δb*, ΔE*) relative to the previously measured standard.
- Interpret the color difference values to assess the deviation from the standard.

4.4 Data Management
The device allows for saving and recalling measurement data. Refer to the device's menu for options to store, view, and delete measurement records. Some models may offer connectivity options (e.g., USB) for transferring data to a computer.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Measurement Aperture
Regularly clean the measurement aperture to ensure accurate readings. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a specialized optical cleaning wipe. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch the optical components.
5.2 Battery Care
To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If the device will not be used for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge periodically if stored for very long durations.
5.3 Storage
Store the colorimeter in its original packaging or a protective case when not in use. Keep it away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, high humidity, and dusty environments.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device Not Powering On: Check battery charge. Ensure the power button is pressed and held correctly. If using an AC adapter, verify the connection and power source.
- Inaccurate Readings: Perform calibration. Clean the measurement aperture. Ensure the sample is properly positioned and the measurement environment is stable (e.g., consistent lighting, temperature).
- Display Issues: If the display is dim or flickering, ensure the battery is charged. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
- Device Not Responding: Try restarting the device. If unresponsive, allow the battery to fully discharge and then recharge before attempting to power on again.
