2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the handset.
  2. Slide the cover downwards to open it.
  3. Insert the two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and - markings).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

3.2. Connecting the Base Station

  1. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the LINE port on the back of the base station.
  2. Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to your telephone wall socket.
  3. Plug the small end of the power adapter into the DC IN port on the back of the base station.
  4. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.

3.3. Initial Charging

Place the handset on the base station. The display will indicate charging. For optimal battery performance, allow the handset to charge continuously for at least 12-15 hours before its first use, even if the display shows a full charge sooner.

4. Operating the Phone

4.1. Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Lift the handset from the base or press the TALK button. Dial the desired phone number.
  • To Receive a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset or press the TALK button.
  • To End a Call: Place the handset back on the base or press the END button.

4.2. Adjusting Volume

During a call, use the VOL+ and VOL- buttons on the handset or base to adjust the earpiece or speaker volume.

4.3. Hands-Free Function

To activate hands-free mode during a call, press the SPEAKER button on the handset. Press it again to return to normal handset mode.

4.4. Phonebook

The phonebook can store up to 20 contacts (name and number).

  • Adding a Contact: Access the phonebook menu, select 'Add New', enter the name and number using the keypad, and save.
  • Calling from Phonebook: Access the phonebook, scroll to the desired contact, and press the TALK button.

4.5. Digital Answering Machine

The integrated digital answering machine has a recording capacity of approximately 15 minutes.

  • Recording a Greeting: Access the answering machine settings, select 'Record Greeting', and follow the voice prompts.
  • Playing Messages: Press the PLAY button on the base station or access the answering machine menu on the handset.
  • Deleting Messages: During message playback, press the DELETE button on the base or handset.

4.6. Caller ID

The backlit display shows the caller's number (if available and subscribed to Caller ID service from your provider) before you answer the call.

4.7. Multi-Handset Operation (Optional)

The Logicom Retro 2 supports up to 5 handsets. Additional handsets can be registered to the same base station, allowing for internal calls (intercom) and call transfers between handsets, as well as conference calls.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

Wipe the phone's surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no liquid enters the phone's openings.

5.2. Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid exposing the handset to extreme temperatures. If the phone will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Dial Tone:
    • Check if the telephone line cord is securely connected to both the base station and the wall socket.
    • Ensure the power adapter is properly connected to the base station and a working electrical outlet.
    • Verify that the handset batteries are charged.
  • Cannot Make/Receive Calls:
    • Confirm that the phone line is active. Test with another phone if possible.
    • Ensure the handset is within range of the base station.
    • If multiple handsets are used, ensure they are properly registered.
  • Poor Sound Quality:
    • Move the handset closer to the base station.
    • Avoid placing the base station near other electronic devices that may cause interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, microwaves).
    • Check for any damage to the telephone line cord.
  • Handset Not Charging:
    • Ensure the handset is correctly seated on the base station.
    • Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth.

  • Answering Machine Not Recording:
