5. Setup & Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your pump controller. Follow these steps carefully:

Figure 5.1: Illustration of the electrical connections for the pump controller, showing connection to power and connection to the pump.
- Mounting: The controller can be installed either vertically or horizontally on the pump or a stable surface. Ensure it is in a location protected from direct heavy rain or prolonged submersion, despite its IP65 rating.
- Water Connections:
- Connect the water intake of the controller to the pump's outlet.
- Connect the water outlet of the controller to your water supply system (e.g., irrigation lines, household plumbing).
- Use the provided 1" G to 1" NPT adapters if your plumbing requires NPT threads. Ensure all connections are sealed properly to prevent leaks.
- Electrical Connections:
- Connect the male plug of the controller's power cord to a suitable 110-240V AC power outlet.
- Connect your water pump's power cord to the female plug on the controller.
- Verify that the pump's power requirements (voltage and wattage) do not exceed the controller's maximum ratings (1.1kW for 110V, 2.2kW for 220V).
- Initial Power On: Once all connections are secure, plug the controller into the power source. The "Power on" LED should illuminate.

Figure 5.2: The controller is suitable for various types of water pumps, including self-priming, jet, booster, and garden pumps, for applications like water well pumping, household water supply, and irrigation.
6. Operating Instructions
The WiseWater pump controller offers two operating modes to manage your pump's behavior. The digital display will show real-time pressure and status codes.
6.1 Mode Selection and Pressure Adjustment
The controller allows adjustment of starting and stopping pressures based on the selected mode.
- Entering Setting Mode: Press and hold the Func button for 3 seconds until the display flashes.
- Selecting Mode (dE1/dE2):
- Press Func repeatedly to cycle between dE1 (Mode 1) and dE2 (Mode 2).
- Mode 1 (dE1): Adjusts only the starting pressure. The pump will stop when the pressure reaches its maximum or flow ceases.
- Mode 2 (dE2): Adjusts both the starting pressure and the stopping pressure. The pump will stop when the set stopping pressure is reached.
- Adjusting Pressure:
- While in setting mode, use the Up and Down buttons to increase or decrease the flashing pressure value.
- The adjustable starting pressure range is 7.25-97 psi.
- For Mode 2, after setting the starting pressure, press Func again to adjust the stopping pressure.
- Saving Settings: Press the Reset button to save your settings and exit the setting mode. The display will return to showing actual pressure (d00).
6.2 Automatic Operation
Once configured, the controller will automatically manage your pump:
- The pump will start automatically when the pressure drops below the set starting pressure (e.g., when a faucet is opened).
- In Mode 1, the pump will stop when water flow ceases or maximum pressure is reached.
- In Mode 2, the pump will stop when the set stopping pressure is reached.
- The controller includes a water shortage protection function, automatically stopping the pump to prevent dry running (indicated by F---).
7. Maintenance
The WiseWater Automatic Water Pump Controller is designed for low maintenance. However, regular checks can ensure its long-term reliability:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the controller with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Connections: Annually inspect all water and electrical connections for leaks, corrosion, or loose fittings. Tighten as necessary.
- Environmental Check: Ensure the installation environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.
- Winterization (if applicable): If installed in an area subject to freezing temperatures, disconnect the controller and drain any water to prevent damage from ice expansion. Store in a dry, frost-free location.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your WiseWater Automatic Water Pump Controller, refer to the following common problems and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Controller not powering on. | No power supply; loose connection; faulty power outlet. | Check power cord connection. Test the outlet with another device. Ensure main power is on. |
| Pump not starting. | Water shortage (F--- displayed); pump not connected; starting pressure too high; pump malfunction. | Check water supply. Ensure pump is correctly plugged into controller. Adjust starting pressure. Check pump for issues independently. |
| Pump frequently starts/stops (short cycling). | Small leak in system; pressure tank issue (if applicable); incorrect pressure settings. | Inspect plumbing for leaks. If using a pressure tank, check its air charge. Adjust starting/stopping pressures. |
| "A---" (Over pressure protection) displayed. | System pressure exceeds maximum working pressure. | Check for blockages in the discharge line. Ensure pump is not oversized for the system. |
| "P---" (Protection start continually) displayed. | Indicates continuous protection activation, possibly due to repeated water shortage or pressure issues. | Check water supply. Reset the controller by pressing the Reset button. Investigate underlying cause of repeated issues. |
| Water leakage from connections. | Loose fittings; insufficient thread sealant. | Tighten connections. Apply more thread sealant (e.g., PTFE tape) to threaded joints. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
