Setup and Initial Use

Unboxing and Inspection:

Upon receiving your YINMIK pH Meter and Salt Temp Meter, carefully unbox all components. Inspect both devices for any visible damage. Ensure the protective cap is on the pH meter's electrode when not in use.

Powering On (Salt Temp Meter):

The floating salt and temperature meter is solar-powered. Simply place the device in direct sunlight to charge its internal battery. No external batteries are required for this unit. For initial use, ensure it has received sufficient sunlight to power on.

pH Meter Calibration:

For accurate pH readings, calibration is essential. The YK-P01 pH meter supports 3-point auto calibration (4.00, 7.00, 10.01 pH). Calibration powders are included to prepare calibration solutions.

  1. Prepare the calibration solutions (pH 4.00, pH 7.00, pH 10.01) using the provided powders and distilled water. Each powder can configure up to 500ml of solution.
  2. Turn on the pH meter by pressing the "ON/OFF" button.
  3. Rinse the electrode with distilled water and blot dry with a clean tissue.
  4. Immerse the electrode into the pH 7.00 calibration solution. Press and hold the "CAL" button until the display shows "CAL" and then "7.00". The meter will automatically recognize the solution and calibrate. Wait for the reading to stabilize and for the calibration to complete (usually indicated by a stable reading or a confirmation message).
  5. Rinse the electrode again with distilled water.
  6. Repeat the process for pH 4.00 and pH 10.01 solutions. It is recommended to calibrate with pH 7.00 first, then pH 4.00, and finally pH 10.01 for best accuracy.
  7. After calibration, rinse the electrode and replace the protective cap.

For optimal accuracy, calibrate the pH meter regularly, especially if readings appear inconsistent or after prolonged storage.

Operating Instructions

Using the pH Meter (YK-P01):

  1. Remove the protective cap from the electrode.
  2. Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
  3. Press the "ON/OFF" button to turn on the meter.
  4. Immerse the electrode into the sample solution up to the immersion line. Gently stir and wait for the reading to stabilize.
  5. The large horizontal screen will display both pH and temperature values simultaneously.
  6. Press the "HOLD/TEMP" button to hold the current reading or to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  7. After use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled water and replace the protective cap.

Using the Floating Salt Temp Meter:

  1. Ensure the meter is sufficiently charged by solar exposure.
  2. Turn on the meter using the power button on its top surface.
  3. Place the floating meter into the salt water pool or other water body. The probe end should be fully submerged.
  4. The meter will automatically begin measuring salinity (in PPM) and temperature (in °F or °C).
  5. The large display on the top surface allows for easy reading of both values simultaneously.
  6. The device is designed for continuous measurement, allowing you to check results at any time.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Probes:

  • pH Meter Electrode: Always rinse the electrode with distilled water before and after each use. If the electrode becomes dirty or readings are erratic, gently clean it with a soft brush and a mild cleaning solution (e.g., electrode cleaning solution or diluted dish soap), then rinse thoroughly with distilled water.
  • Salt Temp Meter Probe: Periodically wipe the probe of the floating meter with a soft cloth to remove any buildup of algae or mineral deposits. Rinse with fresh water.

Storage:

  • pH Meter: Store the pH meter with its protective cap filled with a few drops of KCL storage solution or pH 7.00 buffer solution to keep the electrode hydrated. Do not store in distilled water.
  • Salt Temp Meter: When not in use for extended periods, store the floating meter in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Inaccurate pH readingsElectrode dirty or dry; calibration needed; expired calibration solution.Clean and rehydrate electrode; recalibrate the meter; use fresh calibration solutions.
Salt Temp Meter not turning on/displayingInsufficient solar charge; power button not pressed correctly.Place in direct sunlight for several hours to charge; ensure power button is pressed firmly.
Readings fluctuate excessivelyElectrode/probe not fully immersed; air bubbles; interference.Ensure probe is fully submerged; gently tap to remove air bubbles; test in a stable environment.
Temperature reading seems offSensor dirty; rapid temperature change.Clean temperature sensor area; allow meter to equilibrate with water temperature.
