4. Setup

No complex setup is required for the SwabTek Cocaine Detection Swabs. Ensure you have a clean, flat surface to perform the test and access to the suspected substance or surface.

  1. Open the outer packaging of the SwabTek kit.
  2. Carefully remove one individually sealed swab packet.
  3. Ensure the instruction card is readily available for reference during the testing process.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to perform a presumptive test for cocaine using the SwabTek Cocaine Detection Swabs:

  1. Prepare the Swab: Open the individually sealed swab packet by tearing along the "Open this end" line. Carefully remove the swab.
  2. Collect Sample (Surface): Gently rub the tip of the swab over the suspected surface for approximately 10 seconds. Ensure good contact to collect any residue.
  3. Collect Sample (Liquid/Solid): For liquid samples, dip the swab tip into the liquid. For solid samples, rub the swab tip against the solid material.
  4. Activate the Test: Insert the swab tip into the designated opening on the test strip, as indicated on the instruction card. Push the swab firmly until it clicks into place.
  5. Wait for Reaction: Hold the test strip upright and observe the reaction. A color change will typically occur within 30 seconds.
  6. Interpret Results:
    • Positive Result (+): The appearance of a distinct blue color on the test strip indicates the presumptive presence of cocaine.
    • Negative Result (-): No color change or a color other than blue indicates the presumptive absence of cocaine.

6. Maintenance
