4. Setup and Installation

This clutch assembly is designed for universal replacement and is compatible with various systems requiring a 1-inch shaft. It replaces models such as Fisher 99124, Fisher 9207, Airflow A40032, Henderson 51873, Swenson 04138-021-00, Swenson 04138-017-00, Hi-Way 41719, Meyer 61167, Western 65212, Hiniker 80302223, Hiniker 80302146, Ogora 51509, Buyers 1401150, Boss PMV0107, Boss PMV1013, Monroe 00069497, Monroe 05050107, Down Easter SPN104C, and Torwell E22.

  1. Preparation: Ensure the power source to the equipment is completely disconnected. Remove the old clutch assembly carefully, noting the orientation and connection points.
  2. Mounting: Position the new ATPCL1 clutch assembly onto the 1-inch shaft. Ensure it slides smoothly and is properly seated. Secure the clutch using appropriate fasteners (not included, typically reused from the original installation or supplied by the equipment manufacturer). Verify that the mounting bracket is firmly attached to the equipment frame.
  3. Electrical Connection: The clutch operates on 12VDC. Connect the two wires from the clutch assembly to the corresponding 12VDC power supply wires of your equipment. Typically, one wire is positive (+) and the other is negative (-), but polarity may not be critical for clutch engagement in some systems. Refer to your equipment's wiring diagram for specific polarity requirements. Ensure connections are tight and protected from moisture and corrosion.

  • Final Check: Before restoring power, manually rotate the shaft to ensure there is no binding and the clutch assembly moves freely. Double-check all mounting hardware and electrical connections.
  • 5. Operating Instructions

The ALL TRUCK PRODUCTS ATPCL1 clutch assembly is an electromagnetic clutch designed for on/off engagement. When 12VDC power is supplied to the clutch wires, an electromagnetic field is generated, engaging the clutch and transferring torque. When power is removed, the clutch disengages.

    • Engagement: Apply 12VDC power to the clutch wires. The clutch will engage, connecting the input shaft to the output mechanism.
    • Disengagement: Remove 12VDC power from the clutch wires. The clutch will disengage, stopping torque transfer.

Ensure that the power supply provides a stable 12VDC at 6 Amps (47 Watts) for optimal performance. Fluctuations in voltage or current may affect clutch engagement and lifespan.

    6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your clutch assembly.

    • Inspection: Periodically inspect the clutch assembly for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check the electrical wiring for fraying or loose connections.
    • Cleaning: Keep the clutch assembly free from dirt, debris, and excessive moisture. A clean, dry cloth can be used for external cleaning. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage components.
    • Shaft and Bearing Check: Ensure the 1-inch shaft interface remains clean and free of obstructions. The clutch features sealed bearings, which typically do not require lubrication. However, listen for unusual noises during operation that might indicate bearing wear.
    • Mounting Security: Verify that all mounting bolts and fasteners remain tight. Loose mounting can lead to vibration and premature wear.

    7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your clutch assembly, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

    ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Clutch does not engageNo power to clutch; Loose or corroded electrical connections; Faulty wiring; Insufficient voltage/current; Internal clutch failure.Check 12VDC power supply; Inspect and secure all electrical connections; Test wiring for continuity; Verify power supply meets 12VDC, 6 Amp specifications; If all else fails, clutch may need replacement.
Clutch does not disengagePower continuously supplied to clutch; Mechanical binding; Internal clutch failure.Verify power is removed when disengagement is desired; Check for physical obstructions or damage; If power is off and clutch remains engaged, replacement may be necessary.
Excessive noise or vibrationLoose mounting; Misalignment; Worn bearings; Damaged components.Tighten mounting hardware; Check for proper alignment on shaft; Inspect bearings and internal components for wear; Replace if significant damage is found.
OverheatingContinuous engagement under heavy load; Insufficient cooling; Electrical overload.Ensure clutch is not continuously engaged beyond its duty cycle; Verify proper ventilation around the clutch; Check electrical system for overcurrent conditions.
