1. Safety Instructions

Always read and understand this manual before operating the band saw. Failure to follow instructions can result in serious injury.

1.1 General Safety

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust mask.
• Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
• Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
• Secure workpiece firmly. Do not hold small pieces by hand.

1.2 Electrical Safety

• Ensure the power supply voltage matches the specifications on the tool's nameplate (120V).
• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators.
• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the power tool.

1.3 Blade Safety

• Ensure the blade is properly tensioned and aligned before operation.
• Always use sharp blades. Dull blades can cause kickback and strain the motor.
• Keep blade guards in place and properly adjusted.
• Never attempt to clear sawdust or debris while the blade is moving.

2. Product Overview

2.1 Components

The VEVOR 10-Inch Band Saw is designed for versatile cutting of various materials. Below is an overview of its main components.

• Band Saw Unit: The main body housing the motor, blade wheels, and blade.
• Work Table: The surface where the workpiece rests during cutting, adjustable for angles.
• Stand: Provides stable support and raises the saw to a comfortable working height.
• Blade: The continuous loop cutting tool.
• Fence: A guide for straight cuts.
• Miter Gauge: Used for angled cuts.
• Work Light: Illuminates the cutting area for improved visibility.

2.2 Key Features

• Impeccable Cutting Proficiency: Capable of cutting wood, metal, copper, aluminum, and plastic with a maximum cutting height of 6 inches and a throat width of 9.65 inches.

• Two-speed Adjustable: Features a 1/2 HP 370W motor with overheat protection, offering speeds of 1100 RPM (max) and 560 RPM (min) to suit different materials.

• Multi-angle Cutting: The Q235 steel work table can be tilted from 0 to 45° for precise bevel cuts.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. Ensure all parts listed in the packing list are present. The main band saw unit comes largely pre-assembled.

3.2 Assembly Steps

Assembly primarily involves setting up the stand and attaching the work table. It is recommended to keep bolts hand-tight until all components are in place to allow for minor adjustments.

1. Attach Rubber Feet to Stand Legs: Slide the rubber feet onto the bottom ends of the four stand legs.
2. Assemble the Stand Base: Lay the main band saw unit on its side. Attach the four stand legs to the base of the unit using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts. Ensure the legs are oriented correctly.
3. Install Cross Braces: Insert the cross bracing bars between the assembled legs. These provide stability to the stand. Keep all bolts hand-tight at this stage to allow for proper alignment.
4. Tighten All Stand Bolts: Once all legs and cross braces are in place and aligned, firmly tighten all bolts on the stand for maximum stability.
5. Mount the Work Table: Position the work table onto the designated mounting points on the band saw unit. Align the bolt holes and secure it with the provided hardware. Ensure the limiter screw on the underside of the table is correctly positioned.
6. Install Fence Guide Extrusion: Attach the fence guide extrusion to the front edge of the work table using the provided screws and washers. This rail allows the rip fence to slide smoothly.
7. Install Rip Fence: Place the rip fence onto the fence guide. It can be used on either side of the blade. Tighten the lock lever to secure it in position.
8. Install Push Stick Holder: Turn the hexagon nut on the cap screw all the way up to the unthreaded part. This holder provides a convenient storage location for the push stick.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

The band saw features a safety-enhanced power switch. To operate, lift the yellow cover to reveal the red (OFF) and green (ON) buttons. Press the green button to start the saw. To stop, press the red button. Close the yellow cover to lock out the switch for safety when not in use.

4.2 Adjusting Blade Tension

Proper blade tension is crucial for accurate cuts and blade longevity. Adjust the tension knob located on the top of the band saw unit. Refer to the blade manufacturer's recommendations for specific tension settings.

4.3 Speed Adjustment

The band saw offers two speeds: 560 RPM (minimum) and 1100 RPM (maximum). Adjust the speed by changing the belt position on the motor pulleys. Consult the specifications table for recommended speeds for different materials.

4.4 Tilting the Table

For angled cuts, the work table can be tilted from 0° to 45°. Loosen the locking mechanism beneath the table, adjust to the desired angle using the integrated scale, and then re-tighten the lock to secure the table.

4.5 Using the Fence and Miter Gauge

• Rip Fence: Use the rip fence for making straight, parallel cuts. Loosen the fence lock, slide the fence to the desired measurement on the scale, and then lock it in place.
• Miter Gauge: For precise angled cross-cuts, insert the miter gauge into the slot on the work table. Adjust the miter gauge to the desired angle and secure it.

4.6 Work Light Operation

The flexible LED work light can be positioned to illuminate your cutting path. It typically has an independent on/off switch located on the light itself.
