Operating Instructions

Cooking with Your Slow Cooker

  1. Prepare your ingredients and place them into the stoneware crock. Do not overfill the crock; ensure there is at least 1 inch of space from the top rim to prevent boiling over.
  2. Place the glass lid securely on the stoneware crock.
  3. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
  4. Turn the control dial to your desired temperature setting:
    • LOW: Ideal for slow-cooking meats and stews over a longer period (typically 6-8 hours).
    • HIGH: Suitable for faster cooking (typically 3-4 hours) or for recipes that require a higher initial temperature.
    • WARM: Use this setting to keep cooked food at a serving temperature. Do not use the WARM setting for cooking raw food.
  5. Allow the food to cook for the recommended time. Avoid lifting the lid frequently during cooking, as this releases heat and can significantly extend cooking times.
  6. Once cooking is complete, turn the control dial to the "OFF" position and unplug the slow cooker from the outlet.
  7. Use oven mitts or the cool-touch handles to carefully remove the stoneware crock from the base unit for serving.

General Cooking Tips

  • For best results, ensure the lid fits snugly to retain heat and moisture.
  • Root vegetables (carrots, potatoes) cook slower than meat. Cut them into smaller, uniform pieces and place them at the bottom of the crock.
  • Dairy products and fresh herbs should be added during the last 30 minutes of cooking to prevent curdling or loss of flavor.
  • The slow cooker is not recommended for cooking rice or pasta unless specified in a recipe designed for slow cookers.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the slow cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. The stoneware crock and glass lid are dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Alternatively, they can be washed by hand with warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that may scratch surfaces.
  3. To clean the exterior of the base unit, wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Never immerse the base unit in water or any other liquid.
  4. For stubborn food residue on the stoneware crock, fill it with warm, soapy water and let it soak for a few hours before cleaning.

Storage

Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store the slow cooker in a cool, dry place. You may store the lid inverted on the stoneware crock inside the base unit to save space.
