2. Important Safety Information

This device is designed to detect the presence of smoke and carbon monoxide. It is not designed to detect natural gas, propane, butane, or other combustible fuels. For optimal safety, ensure proper placement and regular testing.

  • Dual Protection: This detector utilizes dual sensors (photoelectric for smoke and electrochemical for carbon monoxide) to provide comprehensive protection.
  • Audible Alarm: In the event of a detected hazard, the alarm will sound at over 85 dB to alert occupants.
  • 10-Year Battery: The sealed lithium battery provides continuous power for 10 years, eliminating the need for battery replacement.
  • Activation: The device must be activated before use by pressing and holding the center of the top cover for 10 seconds until the LED indicator lights up and a beep is heard.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in your package:

  • Combination Smoke and CO Alarm (6 units)
  • Mounting Bracket (6 units)
  • Adhesive Tape (6 units)
  • Screws/Anchors (12 units)
  • User Manual (1 unit)

4. Installation

4.1 Choosing a Location

For optimal protection, install detectors in the following locations:

  • Install at least one detector on every level of your home, including the basement.
  • Place detectors inside and outside of sleeping areas.
  • For smoke detection, mount on the ceiling or high on a wall (at least 4 inches from the ceiling).
  • For carbon monoxide detection, place at knee level or higher, but not directly on the ceiling.
  • Avoid installing in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, or near windows, doors, or air vents, as these areas can cause false alarms or reduce effectiveness.

4.2 Mounting Instructions

The detector can be installed using either the provided adhesive tape or screws.

  1. Prepare the Mounting Surface: Ensure the chosen surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
  2. Attach Mounting Bracket:
    • Using Adhesive Tape: Peel the protective film from the adhesive tape and firmly press the mounting bracket onto the desired location for at least 30 seconds.
    • Using Screws: Mark the drilling points using the mounting bracket. Drill two holes, insert the anchors, and then secure the mounting bracket with the screws.
  3. Activate the Detector: Before attaching the detector to the bracket, press and hold the center of the top cover for approximately 10 seconds until the LED indicator lights up and you hear a beep. This activates the 10-year battery.
  4. Attach Detector to Bracket: Align the detector with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

5. Operation

5.1 Initial Activation

As mentioned in the installation section, activate the detector by pressing and holding the center of the top cover for 10 seconds until the LED lights up and a beep is heard. The device is now operational.

5.2 Test Function

It is recommended to test your detector weekly to ensure proper functioning.

  • To Test: Press the large test/silence button located on the top cover of the detector. You can use a long stick or broom handle for convenience, especially if the detector is mounted on the ceiling.
  • Expected Behavior: The alarm will sound a series of loud beeps, and the LED indicator will flash. This confirms the unit is working correctly.

5.3 Silence/Hush Function

In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm.

  • To Silence: Press the large test/silence button. The alarm will enter a temporary silence mode for approximately 9 minutes.
  • Note: If the smoke or CO concentration remains high after the silence period, the alarm will reactivate. Do not use the silence function if you suspect a real emergency.

5.4 Alarm Signals

The detector provides distinct signals for different conditions:

  • Smoke Alarm: Three long beeps followed by a pause, repeated. Red LED flashes rapidly.
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm: Four quick beeps followed by a pause, repeated. Red LED flashes rapidly.
  • Low Battery Warning: A single chirp every 60 seconds. Red LED flashes once every 60 seconds. This indicates the end of the 10-year battery life.
  • Malfunction Warning: Two chirps every 60 seconds. Red LED flashes twice every 60 seconds. This indicates a fault with the unit.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the detector's sensitivity and prevents false alarms.

  • Clean the detector at least once a month.
  • Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning solvents or polishes.
  • Gently vacuum around the alarm's vents and openings using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris.

6.2 Battery Life

The detector is equipped with a sealed 10-year lithium battery. This means no battery replacement is necessary throughout the product's lifespan. The unit is designed to provide continuous power for 10 years from activation.
