Setup
- Unpacking and Placement: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Place the machine on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface, ensuring adequate space around it for ventilation and access to the water tank and bean hopper.
- Filling the Bean Hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper located on top of the machine. Pour fresh whole coffee beans into the hopper. The hopper has a capacity of 5 ounces.

- Filling the Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the 'MAX' level. The water tank has a capacity of 1.5 quarts. Reinsert the water tank securely.

- Connecting the Milk Frothing System: If you plan to use the milk frothing function, connect the milk pipe to the designated port on the machine's dispenser. Place the other end of the milk pipe into the provided milk jug or a suitable container with milk.

- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Initial Power On: Press the power button to turn on the machine. The machine will perform an initial rinse cycle. Follow any on-screen prompts or indicator lights.
Operating Instructions
The Smeg BCC13 offers 10 preset beverages for your convenience. Use the intuitive interface with backlit buttons to select your desired drink.
Making an Espresso
- Place a cup under the coffee dispenser.
- Select the 'Espresso' button on the control panel.
- The machine will automatically grind the beans, brew, and dispense your espresso.

Making a Latte or Cappuccino
- Ensure the milk frothing system is correctly connected and the milk jug is filled with cold milk.
- Place a suitable cup under the coffee dispenser.
- Select 'Latte Macchiato' or 'Cappuccino' from the control panel.
- The machine will first froth and dispense the milk, then brew the espresso into the same cup.

Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the double drip tray daily.
- Milk System: After each use of the milk frothing system, run a quick rinse cycle to prevent milk residue buildup. Disassemble and clean the milk pipe and jug thoroughly with warm soapy water.

Descaling
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use a descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines and follow the instructions provided with the descaling product and in the machine's display prompts.
