2. Safety Information
Observe the following safety guidelines to prevent damage to your watch and ensure safe operation:
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) or sudden temperature changes.
- Do not expose the watch to strong magnetic fields, as this may affect timekeeping accuracy.
- Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, and cosmetics, as they may damage the case, strap, or gaskets.
- Ensure the crown is pushed in completely after setting to maintain water resistance.
3. Setup
3.1 Setting Time and Date
- Pull the Crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch) out to position 2.
- Set the Date: Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date.
- Set the Day: Continue rotating the crown to adjust the day. Note that the day changes after midnight.
- Set the Time: Pull the crown out further to position 3. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure you set the correct AM/PM by observing when the date changes.
- Push the Crown In: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into position 1 (flush with the case) to start the watch and ensure water resistance.

3.2 Adjusting the Strap
The watch features an 8-inch black two-piece quick-release strap. To adjust the fit:
- Locate the buckle and the series of holes on the strap.
- Insert the pin of the buckle into the hole that provides a comfortable and secure fit on your wrist.
- Ensure the strap is not too tight, which could restrict circulation, or too loose, which could cause the watch to move excessively.

4. Operating
4.1 Basic Timekeeping
Your Timex Legacy watch is a quartz movement timepiece designed for accurate timekeeping. Once the time and date are set, the watch will operate continuously until the battery requires replacement.
4.2 Water Resistance Guidelines
This watch is water resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not for diving or snorkeling. To maintain water resistance:
- Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, as this can compromise the seals.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dust and smudges.
- For the stainless steel case, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth.
- For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry completely. Do not use harsh chemicals.
5.2 Battery Replacement
When the watch stops running, the battery needs to be replaced. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance. Attempting to replace the battery yourself may void the warranty and compromise the watch's water resistance.
5.3 Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The original packaging or a watch box is ideal for protection.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch not running | Dead battery | Replace battery (professional service recommended) |
| Incorrect time/date | Crown not pushed in, time not set correctly | Refer to Section 3.1 to reset time and date; ensure crown is fully pushed in |
| Condensation under crystal | Exposure to extreme temperature changes or compromised water resistance | Contact customer support for inspection and repair |
