4. Setup and Preparation
4.1. Work Area Preparation
- Ensure the work area is clean, dust-free, and well-ventilated.
- Maintain an ambient temperature between 65°F (18°C) and 75°F (24°C) and relative humidity below 60% for optimal drying and curing.
- Protect surrounding areas from overspray using masking tape and paper/plastic sheeting.
4.2. Surface Preparation
- Clean: Thoroughly clean the repair area with a wax and grease remover to eliminate contaminants.
- Sand: Lightly sand the repair area with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 600-800 grit wet or dry) to promote adhesion. Feather the edges of the repair.
- Re-clean: Clean the sanded area again to remove any sanding dust. Allow to dry completely.
4.3. Can Preparation

5. Operating Instructions (Application)
5.1. Applying the Basecoat Paint
- Hold the basecoat can approximately 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) from the surface.
- Apply the basecoat in thin, even coats using a steady, sweeping motion. Overlap each pass by about 50%.
- Allow 5-10 minutes flash time between coats, or until the paint appears dull and dry to the touch.
- Apply 2-3 coats, or until desired coverage and color match are achieved. Avoid applying heavy coats to prevent runs.
- After the final basecoat, allow it to dry for at least 30-60 minutes before proceeding to the clearcoat. The surface should be completely dry and dull.
5.2. Activating and Applying the 2K Clearcoat
The 2K Clearcoat features a unique pre-catalyzed technology that activates upon release. Once activated, the clearcoat has a limited pot life.
- Activate the Clearcoat:
- Remove the red button from the cap.
- Place the can on a firm surface.
- Invert the can and place the red button onto the pin on the bottom of the can.
- Press the red button firmly until the pin is fully depressed. You will hear a hiss, indicating activation.
- Shake the activated clearcoat can vigorously for 2 minutes.
- Pot Life: Once activated, the 2K clearcoat has a pot life of approximately 24-48 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Use the entire can within this period for best results.
- Apply Clearcoat: Hold the activated clearcoat can approximately 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) from the surface.
- Apply 2-3 medium wet coats. The first coat should be a light mist coat, followed by two medium wet coats.
- Allow 10-15 minutes flash time between clearcoat layers. The surface should appear tacky but not wet.
- Ensure even coverage for a uniform gloss.
5.3. Curing Time
- Dust Free: Approximately 30 minutes.
- Tack Free: Approximately 1-2 hours.
- Handleable: Approximately 4-6 hours.
- Full Cure: Allow 24-48 hours for the clearcoat to fully cure before any sanding, buffing, or washing. Full hardness may take up to 7 days.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning Spray Nozzles
- After each use, especially for the basecoat, invert the can and spray until only clear propellant comes out. This helps clear the nozzle and prevents clogging.
- For the 2K clearcoat, due to its limited pot life, cleaning the nozzle is less critical as the entire can is typically used in one session. If you must store an activated can, clean the nozzle as described above.
6.2. Storage
- Store unused cans in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and open flames.
