3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Connection

  1. Connect to Display: Use the provided HDMI cable to connect the Mini PC to your monitor or TV. The device supports HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB4 for video output.
  2. Connect Peripherals: Plug in your keyboard, mouse, and any other USB devices into the available USB 2.0 or USB 3.2 ports.
  3. Connect to Network: For a wired connection, connect an Ethernet cable to the 2.5G LAN port. For wireless, ensure your WiFi network is available after powering on.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the US Power Adapter into the DC 19V port on the Mini PC, then connect it to a power outlet.
  5. Power On: Press the power button located on the front of the Mini PC. The power indicator light will illuminate.

3.2 Multi-Display Setup

The UM760 Slim supports connecting up to three independent displays simultaneously. Use a combination of the HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB4 ports to achieve your desired multi-monitor setup. Ensure your monitors support the desired resolutions (up to 8K@60Hz for HDMI/USB4, 4K@60Hz for DisplayPort).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power Management

  • Power On: Press the power button on the front panel.
  • Shut Down: Use the operating system's shutdown function. Do not unplug the power adapter directly without proper shutdown to prevent data loss.
  • Sleep Mode: The system can enter sleep mode to save power. Wake it by pressing the power button or moving the mouse/keyboard.

4.2 USB4 Port Functionality

The USB4 port on the UM760 Slim supports up to 40Gbps data transfer, 8K@60Hz display output, and 65-100W power delivery input to the host. It can also provide 15W external output power supply function for compatible devices.

5. Maintenance and Upgrades

The MINISFORUM DeskMini UM760 Slim is designed for easy maintenance and upgrades. You can expand its memory (RAM) and storage (SSD) to enhance performance and capacity.

5.1 Opening the Chassis

To access internal components for upgrades or maintenance, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the Mini PC is powered off and disconnected from all power sources and peripherals.
  2. Locate the four rubber feet on the bottom of the device. Carefully peel them off to reveal the screws underneath.
  3. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the four screws.
  4. Gently slide the bottom cover off. Be mindful of any connected cables, such as the power cable for the SSD bay.

5.2 RAM Upgrade

The UM760 Slim has two SODIMM slots for DDR5 RAM, supporting up to 48GB per slot (96GB total). To upgrade or install RAM:

  1. With the chassis open, locate the SODIMM slots.
  2. If replacing existing RAM, gently push the clips on both sides of the module outwards to release it. The module will pop up at an angle. Carefully pull it out.
  3. Align the notch on the new DDR5 SODIMM module with the notch in the slot. Insert the module at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Press down firmly on the module until the clips on both sides snap into place, securing the RAM.

5.3 SSD Upgrade

The Mini PC features two M.2 2280 PCIe4.0 SSD slots, each supporting up to 2TB. To install or upgrade an SSD:

  1. With the chassis open, locate the M.2 SSD slots.
  2. If replacing an existing SSD, remove the small screw holding it in place and gently pull the SSD out.
  3. Insert the new M.2 2280 PCIe4.0 SSD into an available slot, ensuring the notch aligns correctly.
  4. Gently push the SSD down and secure it with the small screw.

5.4 Reassembling the Chassis

After performing any upgrades or maintenance:

  1. Carefully re-connect any cables that were disconnected (e.g., SSD power cable).
  2. Align the bottom cover with the chassis and slide it back into place.
  3. Tighten the four screws securely.
  4. Re-attach the rubber feet over the screw holes.

6. Troubleshooting
