Setup Instructions

  1. Attach to Tripod: Locate the 3/8" threaded hole on the bottom of the leveling base. Screw the leveling base onto the 3/8" mounting screw of your tripod, monopod, or slider until secure. Ensure it is firmly attached to prevent movement during use.
  2. Mount Tripod Head/Camera: The top of the leveling base features a 3/8" screw. Attach your desired tripod head (e.g., ball head, fluid head) or camera directly if it has a 3/8" thread. If your camera or head uses a 1/4" thread, you will need a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter (not included unless specified in package contents). Tighten securely.

Operating Instructions

  1. Initial Leveling: Once the leveling base is mounted and your camera/head is attached, observe the built-in bubble levels. There are three bubble levels to provide a comprehensive view of the current tilt.
  2. Adjusting the Angle: The leveling base features three short support pillars, each with two thumb screws. To adjust the angle, gently turn the thumb screws on the respective pillars. Turning a screw clockwise will raise that side, while turning it counter-clockwise will lower it.
  3. Fine-Tuning: Make small, incremental adjustments to the thumb screws. The counterbalance system with damped friction control allows for smooth and precise angle adjustments up to +/-9°. Continuously check the bubble levels until the camera platform is perfectly horizontal.
  4. Securing Position: Once the desired level is achieved, ensure all thumb screws are adequately tightened to prevent any accidental shifts during photography or videography.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the leveling base. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or components.
  • Storage: Store the leveling base in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Leveling: Ensure the tripod itself is as stable and level as possible before fine-tuning with the leveling base. Check that all components are securely mounted.
  • Loose Connections: If the camera or tripod head feels wobbly, re-check the tightness of the 3/8" screws connecting the leveling base to the tripod and the camera/head to the leveling base.
  • Stiff Adjustment Screws: If the thumb screws are stiff, ensure no debris is obstructing the threads. Do not force them; gentle, consistent pressure should be sufficient.
