5. Installation Instructions

For a visual guide, please refer to the official installation video below:

Video: Official Bathlink Shower Wall Panels Installation Guide. This video demonstrates the step-by-step process for preparing the wall, cutting and drilling panels, applying adhesive, and securing the panels in place.

5.1. Initial Preparation

  1. Check and Caulk: Open the package and inspect all components for damage or missing parts. Allow panels to adjust to room temperature (at least six hours) before installation. Ensure the working space is dry and the wall surface is dry, smooth, and free of dust, soap scum, or other contaminants. Fill any seams or gaps in the wall with thin-set material before panel installation.
  2. Wall Surface Preparation: Measure and mark openings for faucets, bathtub spout, and shower head. Reserve space according to your bathtub or shower tray. Install 1/2 inch moisture-resistant cement board or green board over the back, front, and rear wall surfaces of the rough opening.

5.2. Cutting and Drilling

  1. Measure and Cut Panels: Place the wall panel with the finished side facing up on a flat surface. Apply masking tape over the area where the saw contacts the finished surface to prevent chipping. Measure the required installation height (label as 'A') and cut the wall panel to this height. Measure the required installation depth (label as 'X') and width (label as 'L'). Cut the back panel width to L-13mm and the side panel width to X-7mm.
  2. Drill Faucet Holes: Measure the exact distance for your faucet hole positions on the wall. Transfer these measurements to the side panel and carefully drill the holes from the finished side (facing up) of the panel. Place a scrap of wood beneath the hole to ensure a clean cut.

5.3. Securing Panels

  1. Apply Adhesive: Clean the backs of each panel with denatured alcohol or a non-oil-based cleaning solvent. Apply construction adhesive evenly to the wall-facing side of the back panel in a serpentine pattern.
  2. Install Panels: Carefully align the back panel and press it firmly into place against the wall. Press along all edges to ensure the adhesive is secured. Repeat for the side panels.

5.4. Splicing and Sealing

  1. Splicing Place Treatment: For the splicing place between the two wall panels, you have two options:
    • Use aluminum alloy strips to connect and fix with construction adhesive. Evenly apply sealant along the groove of the aluminum trim before attaching.
    • Directly apply silicone sealant (transparent adhesive) to seal the joint between the two wall panels.

5.5. Curing

  1. Bracing and Curing: Install temporary bracing (lumber) to hold the wall panels in place until the silicone sealant is completely set. This usually takes 24 hours. Allow the sealant to fully cure before using the shower.

6. Maintenance

Bathlink Solid Surface Shower Wall Panels are designed for low maintenance. The smooth, non-porous surface resists dirt buildup, making cleaning straightforward.

  • Regular Cleaning: Wipe down panels with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner after each use to prevent water spots and soap scum accumulation.
  • Deep Cleaning: For more stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive bathroom cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or scouring powders, as these can damage the surface.
  • Scratch Resistance: While scratch-resistant, avoid using sharp objects directly on the panels. Minor scratches can often be buffed out with fine-grit sandpaper (consult a professional if unsure).
