5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Grinding Coffee Beans

Image 5.1: Close-up of the integrated conical burr grinder with 30 adjustable settings, showing examples of coarse, medium, and fine grinds.
- Ensure the bean hopper is filled with fresh, whole coffee beans.
- Select the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
- Adjust the grind setting using the dial on the bean hopper. A finer grind is generally preferred for espresso (settings 1-10), while coarser grinds are for other brewing methods. Experiment to find your ideal setting.
- Insert the portafilter into the grinding cradle.
- Press the "GRIND" button or activate the grinding function (refer to specific model controls if different) to dispense freshly ground coffee directly into the portafilter. The machine features dose control to deliver the right amount.
- Remove the portafilter and use the tamper to compress the ground coffee evenly.
5.2. Brewing Espresso

Image 5.2: Espresso being extracted into two cups, illustrating the 20 Bar pressure, PID temperature control, and recommended extraction times for single and double shots.
- Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is preheated.
- Insert the portafilter with tamped coffee into the group head and lock it into place by twisting it firmly to the right.
- Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Press the "SINGLE" or "DOUBLE" shot button. The machine will automatically brew the espresso.
- The PID temperature control ensures water is delivered at the optimal temperature (197.6℉-204℉) for extraction.
- Once brewing is complete, remove the cup(s). Carefully remove the portafilter, discard the used coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter.
5.3. Frothing Milk

Image 5.3: A hand holding a stainless steel milk pitcher under the steam wand, demonstrating the process of creating velvety microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos.
- Fill a stainless steel milk pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Position the steam wand over the drip tray and briefly open the steam valve to purge any condensed water. Close the valve.
- Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
- Open the steam valve fully. Hold the pitcher steady, allowing the milk to swirl and expand.
- As the milk heats and froths, lower the pitcher slightly to keep the tip just below the surface, creating microfoam.
- Once the desired temperature (around 140-150℉ / 60-65℃) and texture are achieved, close the steam valve and remove the pitcher.
- Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly purge the steam wand again to clear any internal milk.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
6.1. Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the indicator shows it's full.
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Rinse thoroughly after each use. Use a brush to remove any coffee grounds.
- Steam Wand: Wipe immediately after frothing milk. Purge steam to clear internal residue.
- Group Head: Use a damp cloth to wipe the group head seal and screen.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
6.2. Weekly Cleaning
- Backflushing: Perform a backflush with a blind filter basket and espresso machine cleaning tablet (if applicable to your model, consult specific instructions).
- Bean Hopper and Grinder: Empty any remaining beans. Use a grinder brush to clean out residual coffee grounds.
6.3. Descaling
Descaling is crucial to remove mineral buildup and should be performed every 2-3 months, or more frequently in areas with hard water.
- Empty the water tank.
- Fill the water tank with a descaling solution mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions (or a solution of white vinegar and water, typically 1:1 ratio).
- Place a large container under the group head and steam wand.
- Run the descaling solution through the machine by activating the brew cycle and steam function until the tank is empty.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and refill with fresh water.
- Repeat the process with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
