4. Setup

Follow these steps for initial camera setup:

  1. Install Batteries: Open the bottom cover of the camera. Insert the required number of AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity. Alternatively, connect an external 6V DC power source to the designated input port.
  2. Insert TF Card: Locate the TF (microSD) card slot. Insert a formatted TF card (up to 32GB, Class 10 recommended) with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  3. Insert SIM Card (for 2G models): If your model supports 2G network functionality (HC-700M 2G), insert a valid 2G SIM card into the SIM card slot. Ensure the SIM card is active and has sufficient credit/data for transmission.
  4. Attach Antenna: Screw the provided antenna firmly into the antenna port at the top of the camera.
  5. Power On: Slide the power switch from OFF to TEST mode. The LCD screen will illuminate, allowing you to configure settings.
  6. Configure Settings: Use the camera's buttons and LCD screen to set the date, time, capture mode (photo, video, or photo+video), resolution, PIR sensitivity, and other desired parameters. Refer to the "Operating Instructions" section for details on menu navigation.
  7. Switch to ON Mode: After configuration, slide the power switch from TEST to ON. The camera will enter monitoring mode, indicated by a brief LED flash, and the screen will turn off. The camera is now ready to detect motion and capture images/videos.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Modes of Operation

  • OFF: Power off the camera.
  • TEST: Allows access to the camera's menu for settings configuration, viewing captured media, and manual photo/video capture. The PIR sensor is active in this mode for testing.
  • ON: The camera enters active monitoring mode. The LCD screen turns off, and the camera will automatically capture photos or videos based on motion detection (PIR sensor) and configured settings.

5.2. Menu Navigation

In TEST mode, use the navigation buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right, OK/Menu) to browse through the settings menu on the 2.0" LCD. Press OK/Menu to enter a setting and OK/Menu again to confirm changes or exit.

5.3. Capture Settings

  • Mode: Select Photo, Video, or Photo+Video.
    • Photo: Captures still images.
    • Video: Records video clips.
    • Photo+Video: Captures a photo followed by a video clip.
  • Photo Resolution: Set image quality (e.g., 12MP, 8MP, 5MP). Higher resolution results in larger file sizes.
  • Video Resolution: Set video quality (e.g., 1080P, 720P).
  • PIR Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity of the Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor (Low, Medium, High). Higher sensitivity detects smaller movements or movements at greater distances, but may lead to more false triggers.
  • Trigger Interval: Set the delay between consecutive triggers after a detection event.
  • Night Vision: The camera automatically switches to infrared night vision mode in low-light conditions using its 48 IR LEDs. Ensure no obstructions block the IR LEDs for optimal night performance.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and PIR sensor window. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the camera will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Use high-quality alkaline or rechargeable batteries.
  • Storage: Store the camera in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • TF Card Management: Regularly format the TF card to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up important files before formatting.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Camera does not power on.Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery polarity; power switch in OFF position.Replace batteries; check battery orientation; ensure switch is in TEST or ON.
No images/videos captured.TF card full or not inserted; incorrect mode selected; PIR sensitivity too low; camera not in ON mode.Insert/format TF card; select Photo/Video mode; increase PIR sensitivity; switch to ON mode.
Poor night vision quality.IR LEDs obstructed; objects too close to camera; low battery power.Clear obstructions; ensure proper distance from subjects; replace batteries.
Camera triggers too often (false triggers).PIR sensitivity too high; camera facing moving branches or heat sources.Decrease PIR sensitivity; reposition camera to avoid false triggers.
2G transmission issues. No SIM card; inactive SIM; poor network signal; incorrect APN settings.Insert active SIM; check network coverage; configure APN settings (refer to network provider).
