Introduction
This instruction manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Greenworks 40V 14" Brushless (Push) Cordless Lawn Mower. Please read this manual thoroughly before initial use and retain it for future reference.
Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Familiarize yourself with all safety decals on the mower and in this manual. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear. Ensure the work area is clear of debris and bystanders before starting the mower.
Setup
1. Unboxing and Initial Assembly
Your lawn mower comes partially assembled. Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The main handle assembly needs to be unfolded and secured. Refer to the quick start guide for visual instructions on securing the handle with the provided fasteners.

2. Battery Charging and Installation
The mower operates on a 40V lithium-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the battery using the included charger. The charger typically indicates when the battery is fully charged. Once charged, open the battery compartment cover on the mower deck and slide the battery into the designated slot until it clicks securely into place. Close the cover.

4. Grass Collection Bag Attachment
For bagging grass clippings, attach the grass collection bag to the rear discharge chute. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent clippings from escaping.

Operating Instructions
1. Adjusting Cutting Height
The mower features a single-lever 5-position height adjustment. To change the cutting height, pull the lever outwards and move it to the desired position (1-1/4" to 3-3/8"). Release the lever to lock it in place. Adjust the height based on grass type and desired lawn appearance.

2. Starting the Mower
To start the mower, ensure the battery is installed and fully charged. Press and hold the safety button, then pull the bail lever towards the handle. The mower will start instantly. Release the bail lever to stop the mower.
3. Mowing Techniques
For optimal results, mow in straight, overlapping lines. Avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass blade length at a time. The 14" cutting deck and lightweight design allow for maximum maneuverability around obstacles. The 40V brushless motor provides efficient power for up to 45 minutes of runtime with a 4.0Ah battery.

4. 2-in-1 Functionality: Mulching and Bagging
Your mower offers 2-in-1 functionality: mulching or bagging. For mulching, ensure the mulching plug is inserted and the grass collection bag is removed. For bagging, remove the mulching plug and attach the grass collection bag. Mulching returns fine clippings to the lawn, enriching the soil, while bagging collects clippings for disposal.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your mower. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
1. Cleaning the Mower Deck
After each use, clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, which can affect cutting performance. Use a brush or scraper to remove clippings. Avoid using water directly on electrical components.
2. Blade Care
Inspect the blade regularly for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can tear grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.
3. Battery and Charger Care
Store the battery and charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not store the battery in the mower for extended periods. Follow the charging instructions provided with the charger.
4. General Maintenance
This electric mower is virtually maintenance-free, requiring no gas, oil changes, or spark plug replacements. Periodically check all fasteners for tightness and ensure all safety features are functioning correctly.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your mower, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Mower does not start: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly installed. Check that the safety button is pressed and the bail lever is pulled.
- Reduced cutting performance: The blade may be dull or damaged. Clean the underside of the mower deck to remove excessive grass buildup. Adjust the cutting height if the grass is too long.
- Excessive vibration: A bent or unbalanced blade can cause vibration. Inspect the blade for damage and replace if necessary.
- Battery not charging: Ensure the charger is properly plugged into a working outlet and the battery is correctly seated in the charger. Check for any damage to the charger or battery.
