Setup
Battery Installation
Your BESTWYA Digital Oral Thermometer comes with batteries pre-installed. Spare LR41 button cell batteries are included in the package. If the display becomes dim or does not turn on, the battery may need replacement.
Initial Use
Before first use, ensure the thermometer is clean. Press the power button to turn it on. The display will briefly show all segments, then the last measured temperature, followed by “LO” with a flashing °F or °C, indicating it is ready for measurement.
Operating Instructions
Taking a Temperature Measurement
- Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. It will beep, and the display will show the last measured temperature for approximately 2 seconds, then “LO” with a flashing °F or °C.
- Position the thermometer according to the desired measurement method (oral, axillary, or rectal).
- Keep the thermometer in place until it beeps continuously (approximately 10 seconds), indicating the measurement is complete.
- Read the temperature displayed on the screen.
- Press the power button to turn off the thermometer, or it will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity.
“LO” Indication
When the thermometer displays “LO” with a flashing °F or °C, it means the ambient temperature is below the measurable range (90.0°F / 32.0°C) and the thermometer is ready to take a measurement. This does not indicate a low battery.
Temperature Measurement Methods

Oral Use (for adults)
Place the thermometer tip under the tongue as close to the heat pocket as possible. Close your mouth and hold the thermometer in place. The measurement typically takes about 10 seconds until the beep sounds.
Axillary (Armpit) Use
Place the thermometer tip in the center of the armpit, ensuring good skin contact. Hold the arm firmly against the body to keep the thermometer in place. This method may yield slightly lower readings than oral or rectal measurements and typically takes longer, around 1-2 minutes, until the beep sounds.
Rectal Use (for infants and young children)
Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the thermometer tip. Gently insert the tip no more than 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) into the rectum. Do not force the thermometer. The measurement typically takes about 10 seconds until the beep sounds.
Fahrenheit/Celsius Switch
To switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C):
- First, short press the power button to turn off the thermometer.
- Then, long press the power button for approximately 3-5 seconds. The display will show the current unit, then switch to the other unit. Release the button to confirm the selection.

Battery Installation and Replacement
The thermometer uses one LR41 button cell battery. When the battery is low, the display may become dim or the thermometer may not turn on. To replace the battery:
- Gently twist and pull off the battery cap at the end of the thermometer.
- Use a small, non-metallic object (like a toothpick) to carefully remove the old battery.
- Insert a new LR41 button cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the battery cap, ensuring it is securely fastened.

Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the thermometer tip with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol or soap and water before and after each use. Do not immerse the entire thermometer in water.
- Storage: Store the thermometer in its protective case in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Storage Conditions: -13°F to 131°F (-25°C to 55°C) at ≤ 85% relative humidity.
- Operating Conditions: 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C) at ≤ 80% relative humidity.
- Avoid Dropping: While designed to be durable, avoid dropping the thermometer to prevent damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Thermometer does not turn on or display is dim. | Low or dead battery. | Replace the LR41 button cell battery. |
| Display shows "LO" and flashes. | Temperature being measured is below the working range (90.0°F / 32.0°C), or the thermometer is ready for measurement. | This is normal. Proceed with measurement. If measuring body temperature, ensure proper placement. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Improper placement, movement during measurement, or measurement time too short. | Ensure the thermometer is correctly positioned and held still. Wait for the continuous beep to confirm measurement completion. |
| No beep sound. | Measurement not complete, or a malfunction. | Ensure sufficient measurement time. If problem persists after battery replacement, contact customer support. |
