How It Works

The Aquasure Serene Lite system employs a multi-stage filtration and conditioning process to deliver clean, treated water throughout your home.

  • Sediment Pre-Filter: Incoming city or well water first passes through the sediment pre-filter, which captures larger particles, protecting the subsequent filtration stages and increasing overall system efficiency.
  • KDF Media: Water then flows through the Fortitude Pro tank containing KDF media. This stage eliminates chlorine, heavy metals, VOCs, unpleasant taste, odors, rust, and prevents the growth of bacteria and algae.
  • Salt-Free Conditioner (Catalytic Media): The water proceeds to the conditioner tank, where dissolved minerals are converted into microscopic crystals. These crystals are unable to adhere to pipes and surfaces, flowing through plumbing without forming limescale buildup.
  • UV System: Finally, the treated water passes through the 8 GPM UV system, which eliminates harmful waterborne pathogens and microorganisms, providing an additional layer of purification.

Installation and Setup

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your Aquasure Serene Lite system. It is highly recommended that installation be performed by a qualified plumber or technician.

Pre-Installation Checklist:

  • Location: Choose a dry, level area, protected from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures. Ensure sufficient space for maintenance and filter changes.
  • Water Pressure: Ensure your home's water pressure is within the system's operating range (typically 20-100 psi).
  • Water Hardness: This system is designed for water hardness levels below 25 grains/gallon.
  • Bypass Valve: Install a bypass valve to allow water flow to your home during system maintenance.
  • Drain Access: Ensure a nearby drain for backwashing (if applicable to your specific valve configuration) and maintenance.
  • Power Outlet: A standard electrical outlet is required for the UV system.
  • Tools and Materials: Gather necessary plumbing tools, fittings, and sealant.

General Installation Steps (Consult a professional):

  1. Turn off the main water supply to your home.
  2. Install the bypass valve assembly.
  3. Mount the sediment pre-filter housing.
  4. Connect the sediment pre-filter to the Fortitude Pro tank (GAC/KDF).
  5. Connect the Fortitude Pro tank to the Salt-Free Conditioner tank.
  6. Install the UV sterilizer after the conditioner tank.
  7. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.
  8. Slowly turn on the main water supply and check for leaks.
  9. Flush the system as per operating instructions before first use.
  10. Plug in the UV system.

Operation

Initial System Flush:

After installation, it is essential to flush the system to remove any carbon fines or air from the media.

  1. Ensure the bypass valve is in the "service" position (water flowing through the system).
  2. Open a cold water faucet in your home (preferably a bathtub or utility sink) and let the water run for at least 10-15 minutes, or until the water runs clear and free of air.
  3. Close the faucet.
  4. Repeat this process for other cold water faucets in your home to ensure all lines are flushed.

Normal Operation:

Once flushed, the system operates automatically. The UV light should remain powered on continuously for effective purification.

  • The system does not require regeneration with salt.
  • Monitor water pressure and quality periodically.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the continued efficiency and performance of your Aquasure Serene Lite system.

Annual Maintenance:

  • Sediment Pre-Filter Replacement: The pleated sediment pre-filter should be replaced annually, or more frequently if water pressure drops significantly or water quality diminishes. Use the provided filter wrench for easy replacement.
  • UV Lamp Replacement: The UV lamp in the 8 GPM sterilizer should be replaced annually to ensure effective disinfection.
  • Quartz Sleeve Cleaning: When replacing the UV lamp, inspect and clean the quartz sleeve. If heavily scaled or damaged, replace it.

Long-Term Maintenance:

  • Anti-Scale Media: The anti-scale media in the conditioner tank is designed to last for 10 years or 800,000 gallons, whichever comes first. Replacement of the media or the entire tank may be required after this period.
  • GAC/KDF Media: The GAC/KDF media in the Fortitude Pro tank also has a long lifespan, typically 5-7 years, depending on water quality and usage.

Always turn off the main water supply and relieve pressure before performing any maintenance.

Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter with your Aquasure Serene Lite system.

ProblemPossible Cause & Solution
Low Water Pressure
  • Clogged sediment pre-filter: Replace sediment pre-filter.
  • Air in the system: Perform system flush to remove air.
  • Incorrect bypass valve position: Ensure bypass valve is fully in "service" position.
Unpleasant Taste/Odor
  • System not properly flushed after installation: Flush the system thoroughly.
  • GAC/KDF media exhausted: Consider replacing GAC/KDF media or the Fortitude Pro tank.
UV Light Not On
  • Power outage or disconnected: Check power connection and outlet.
  • UV lamp expired or faulty: Replace UV lamp.
Visible Scale Buildup
  • Conditioner media exhausted (after 10 years/800K gallons): Replace conditioner media or tank.
  • Water hardness exceeds system capacity (above 25 GPG): Test water hardness; this system is not designed for very hard water.
