4.2 Connecting the Microphone

The Captain 300 features a detachable microphone. Align the 3.5mm jack of the microphone with the port on the left earcup and push firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the microphone button is not muted for proper function.

4.3 Connectivity Modes

The Gtheos Captain 300 offers three versatile connection options:

  1. 2.4GHz USB Wireless Mode:
    • Plug the USB Transmitter into an available USB port on your PS4/PS5, PC, Mac, or Laptop.
    • Power on the headset. It will automatically connect to the USB transmitter.
    • For Nintendo Switch: Plug the USB Transmitter into the Switch dock. Note that the external microphone is not available on Switch due to console model compatibility issues.
  2. Bluetooth 5.3 Mode:
    • Ensure the headset is powered on and in Bluetooth pairing mode (refer to Operating Instructions for details).
    • On your phone, tablet, or laptop, search for Bluetooth devices and select "Gtheos Captain 300" to pair.
    • Note: Bluetooth function does not directly support PS4/PS5 host/controller, PC, or Mac without an additional USB Bluetooth Adapter (Not Included).
  3. 3.5mm Wired Jack Mode:
    • Connect one end of the 3.5mm audio cable to the headset's 3.5mm jack.
    • Connect the other end to your PS4/PS5 controller, Nintendo Switch, or Xbox Series controller.
    • Note: When using a 3.5mm audio cable to connect an Xbox controller, an adapter (Not Included) is required. Audio cables alone are not directly compatible with Xbox controllers.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power button on the headset for approximately 3 seconds to power on or off.

5.2 Volume Control

Use the volume roller/buttons located on the earcup to adjust the audio volume up or down.

5.3 Microphone Mute/Unmute

Press the dedicated microphone mute button on the earcup to toggle the microphone on or off. An indicator light may show the microphone status.

5.4 RGB Lighting Effect

The headset features a cool blue lighting effect. To conserve battery life, you can typically toggle this effect on or off using a dedicated button (refer to the headset's physical controls for exact button location).

6. Maintenance

  • Clean the headset regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the headset to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the headset yourself, as this may void the warranty.
  • Store the headset in a cool, dry place when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Microphone not working on Nintendo Switch: The external microphone is not compatible with Nintendo Switch due to console model limitations.
  • Microphone not working initially: Check if the microphone mute button is activated. Switch it to unmute for proper function.
  • Bluetooth connection issues with PS4/PS5/PC/Mac: Bluetooth function does not directly support these devices without an additional USB Bluetooth Adapter (Not Included). Ensure you are using the 2.4GHz USB Wireless Mode or 3.5mm Wired Mode for these platforms if a Bluetooth adapter is not available.
  • No audio when connected via 3.5mm to Xbox controller: An adapter (Not Included) is required for 3.5mm audio cable connection to Xbox controllers.
  • Short battery life: The cool blue lighting effect consumes battery. Turn off the lighting effect to achieve the maximum 35-40 hours of game time.
