Operating Instructions

The Moclever Manual Pole Saw offers two primary functions: pruning and sawing.

Using the Pruner:

  • Extend the pole to the desired length, ensuring all sections are securely locked.
  • Position the pruner around the branch you wish to cut. The M-shaped scissors are suitable for branches up to 1.2 inches in diameter.
  • Pull the 13ft thickened nylon rope to activate the lever mechanism, closing the pruner blades and cutting the branch.
  • Ensure the branch falls in a safe direction, away from yourself and others.

Using the Saw Blade:

  • For thicker branches, use the double-hooked saw blade. It can be attached to the pole or used handheld.
  • When using with the pole, position the saw blade on top of the branch.
  • Use a steady, back-and-forth motion to saw through the branch. The sharpened hook and sickle blade assist in gripping the branch and preventing slippage.
  • Allow the saw's teeth to do the work; avoid excessive force.
  • When using handheld, grip the ergonomic handle firmly and saw with controlled strokes.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, clean the blades and pruner mechanism to remove sap, dirt, and debris. A damp cloth is usually sufficient. For stubborn sap, use a specialized blade cleaner.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light oil to the moving parts of the pruner mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
  • Sharpening: The saw blades are made from SK5 alloy steel and designed for durability. If the blades become dull over time, they can be sharpened by a professional or replaced with the provided spare blade.
  • Storage: Disassemble the pole saw and store all components in the provided Oxford fabric storage bag. Store in a dry, safe place, out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty extending/retracting poles: Ensure the threaded connections are clean and free of debris. Apply a small amount of lubricant if necessary.
  • Pruner not cutting cleanly: Check for sap buildup on the blades and clean thoroughly. Ensure the rope is not frayed and the pulley system is operating smoothly.
  • Saw blade dull: Replace with the spare blade or have the existing blade professionally sharpened.
  • Loose connections: Periodically check and tighten all screws and nuts on the pruner and saw blade attachments.
