2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before using the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in laser radiation exposure, electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Laser Radiation: This device emits Class II laser radiation. Do not stare into the laser beam or direct it at other people or reflective surfaces.
- Operating Environment: Do not operate the device in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Maintenance: Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the device. Repairs should only be performed by authorized service personnel.

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The device requires two 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
- Insert two AAA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as shown inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Powering On/Off
- To turn on the device, press the READ button. The laser will activate.
- To turn off the device, press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically power off after 150 seconds of inactivity.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Single Distance Measurement
- Turn on the device.
- Point the laser beam at the target surface.
- Press the READ button once. The measured distance will be displayed on the screen.
5.2 Continuous Measurement (Tracking)
- Turn on the device.
- Press and hold the READ button for approximately 2 seconds. The device will enter continuous measurement mode, displaying real-time distance updates as you move the device.
- Press the READ button again to exit continuous measurement mode.
5.3 Area Measurement
- Press the Function button (often labeled with a square icon) until the area measurement icon appears on the display.
- Measure the first side (length) by pressing READ.
- Measure the second side (width) by pressing READ again.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.
5.4 Volume Measurement
- Press the Function button until the volume measurement icon (cube) appears.
- Measure the length by pressing READ.
- Measure the width by pressing READ.
- Measure the height by pressing READ.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.
5.5 Pythagorean Measurement
This function allows indirect measurement of height or distance using the Pythagorean theorem.
- Press the Function button until the Pythagorean measurement icon appears (e.g., a triangle).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to measure the required sides (hypotenuse and one leg).
- The device will calculate and display the unknown side.
5.6 Add and Subtract Measurement
To add or subtract measurements, perform a measurement, then press the +/- button to switch between addition and subtraction modes. Perform the next measurement, and the result will be added or subtracted from the previous one.
5.7 Self-Calibration Function
The LD-50 features a self-calibration function to maintain accuracy. Refer to the device's on-screen menu or specific button combinations for initiating self-calibration. Typically, this involves measuring a known distance and adjusting the device if necessary.
5.8 Backlight On/Off
Press the Backlight button (if available, or a combination of buttons) to toggle the display backlight on or off for improved visibility in different lighting conditions.
5.9 Unit Conversion
To change measurement units (e.g., meters, feet, inches), press the Unit button (often labeled 'U' or with unit symbols) repeatedly until the desired unit is displayed.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Keep the laser lens clean. Use a soft cloth or lens cleaning paper to gently wipe the lens.
6.2 Storage
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
6.3 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in Section 4.1.
