Setup

1. Power Supply

The Aovly Handheld Sewing Machine can be powered by either batteries or a USB connection.

  • Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment (located on the side, near the handle). Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.
  • USB Power: Connect the provided USB cable to the USB interface on the machine and to a 5V/2A power adapter (not included) or a compatible USB port.

2. Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for smooth operation. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Place a thread bobbin onto the thread reel pin.
  2. Guide the thread through the first thread guide (usually a small metal loop).
  3. Pass the thread through the tension adjustment disc.
  4. Thread the needle from front to back. Use the needle threader if necessary.
  5. Ensure the thread is securely in place before starting to sew.

3. Adjusting Tension and Needle Position

The machine features a tightening and loosening knob for thread tension and a needle raising knob for needle position.

  • Tightening and Loosening Knob: This knob adjusts the speed of the incoming thread. If the thread is too tight, it may break or lead to failed stitching. Adjust as needed for your fabric type.
  • Needle Raising Knob: Rotate this knob to move the needle up or down. Adjust the needle to its highest position when placing fabric and threading.

Operating Instructions

1. Preparing to Sew

  1. Ensure the machine is properly threaded and powered.
  2. Lift the presser foot using the needle raising knob to its highest position.
  3. Place the fabric under the presser foot, aligning the seam as desired.
  4. Lower the presser foot onto the fabric.

2. Starting and Stopping

Press the ON/OFF button to start the machine. To stop, press the ON/OFF button again.

3. Adjusting Speed

The machine offers two speed settings: Fast and Slow.

  • Fast Speed: Suitable for sewing long, straight lines to save time.
  • Slow Speed: Ideal for sewing in fabric corners or intricate areas more accurately.

4. Sewing Process

  1. With the fabric in place, press the ON/OFF button to begin sewing.

  4. Lift the presser foot and carefully remove the fabric.

5. Sewing Different Fabrics
