4.2 Basic Vacuum & Seal

  1. Prepare the Bag: Place the food item(s) into a suitable smooth vacuum sealer bag. Ensure the open end of the bag is clean and dry.
  2. Position the Bag: Open the sealer lid. Place the open end of the bag over the vacuum nozzles, ensuring it lies flat across the sealing bar. Close the lid firmly until it latches.
  3. Select Mode:
    • For most items, press the 'Auto Vacuum Seal' button for one-touch operation.
    • For delicate or moist items, use 'Manual Mode'. Press the 'Vacuum' button to start vacuuming and release it when the desired vacuum level is reached, then press 'Seal' to complete the process.
  4. Adjust Settings (if needed): Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the control panel to adjust vacuum time and sealing time according to the food type and bag thickness.
  5. Completion: Once the process is complete, the indicator light will turn off. Open the lid and remove the sealed bag.

4.3 Dual Nozzle Operation

The MS180 features dual nozzles, allowing for simultaneous vacuum sealing of two smaller bags, or faster vacuuming of a single wide bag.

  1. Position Bags: For two bags, place each bag's opening over a separate vacuum nozzle. For a single wide bag, ensure it covers both nozzles.
  2. Initiate Sealing: Proceed with either 'Auto Vacuum Seal' or 'Manual Mode' as described in Section 4.2. The dual nozzles will work in conjunction to vacuum and seal efficiently.

4.4 Sealing Wet Foods

When vacuum sealing moist or wet foods, the external liquid catch container helps prevent liquids from entering the machine's vacuum pump.

  1. Connect Catch Container: Ensure the external 500ml liquid catch container is properly connected to the accessory port on the side of the sealer.
  2. Position Bag: Place the open end of the bag with the wet food over the vacuum nozzles.
  3. Vacuum & Seal: Use 'Manual Mode' to control the vacuum process. Observe the liquid being drawn into the catch container. Once the desired vacuum is achieved, press 'Seal'.

  1. Position Bag: Place the open end of the bag with the delicate food over the vacuum nozzles.
  2. Activate Inflation: Press the 'Inflate' button. The machine will inflate the bag to protect the contents, then seal it.

  2. Connect to Container: Attach the other end of the hose to the vacuum port of a compatible vacuum-sealable canister, jar, or wine stopper.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Liquid Catch Container

The external liquid catch container should be cleaned regularly, especially after sealing wet foods.

  1. Remove: Disconnect the container from the accessory port.
  2. Empty & Wash: Empty any collected liquids. The container is dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Alternatively, wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  3. Dry & Reattach: Ensure the container is completely dry before reattaching it to the sealer.

5.2 Cleaning the Nozzle

To maintain optimal vacuum performance, the nozzle should be cleaned monthly, especially if sealing items that may leave residue.

  1. Locate Cleaning Hook: The MS180 includes an exclusive cleaning hook for the nozzle.
  2. Wipe Nozzle: Use a soft, damp cloth or the cleaning hook to gently wipe away any debris or residue from the vacuum nozzles. Ensure no foreign objects obstruct the nozzles.
  3. Dry: Allow the nozzles to air dry completely before next use.

6. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following common issues and their solutions:

Q1: Why does my sealer only seal but not vacuum?

Solution:

  • Ensure you are using smooth-surface bags. Textured or embossed bags have air channels that prevent proper vacuuming.
  • Verify the bag opening is correctly positioned over the vacuum nozzles and the lid is firmly latched.

Q2: Why is the vacuum weak and there is some air left in the bag?

Solution:

  1. Always use flat-surface bags. Air channels in embossed bags cause leaks and weak vacuum.
  2. When vacuuming, gently press the food item against the nozzle to prevent the bag from collapsing and obstructing airflow.
  3. Ensure the vacuum nozzles are clean. Refer to the 'Maintenance' section for cleaning instructions.

Q3: Why does the nozzle get blocked mid-vacuum?

Solution:

When sealing large bags, item placement is critical for airflow:

  • Correct Placement: Slide items against the nozzle. Let the thickness of the items act as a "pillar" to create integrated air channels, allowing air to be extracted. Seal only when the bag is fully collapsed.
  • Incorrect Placement: Avoid placing items only at the bag bottom, as the bag wall can strangle the nozzle, blocking airflow.
