1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

Always read and understand all safety instructions before operating the printer. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the equipment.

  • Ensure the printer is placed on a stable, level surface capable of supporting its weight (approximately 274 pounds).
  • Connect the printer to a grounded power outlet. Do not use extension cords or adapters that are not rated for the printer's power requirements.

3. Setup

3.1 Unboxing and Placement

Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Due to its weight and dimensions (39"D x 33"W x 46"H), it is recommended to have at least two people for safe handling. Place the printer in a location with adequate space for operation and maintenance, ensuring proper ventilation.

3.2 Power and Network Connection

Connect the power cord to the printer and a suitable power outlet. For network connectivity, use either an Ethernet cable or connect via Wi-Fi. Refer to the printer's display panel for Wi-Fi setup instructions.

3.3 Loading Media

The imagePROGRAF PRO-2600 supports various media types up to 24 inches wide, including glossy photo paper. Follow these steps to load roll paper:

  1. On the printer's control panel, select the roll paper loading option.
  2. Open the top cover and the output guide to access the loading area.
  3. Ensure the roll is placed on the spindle so the material feeds from the top.
  4. Insert the roll into the roll holder and gently feed the material into the printer until it clicks into place.
  5. Close the output guide and top cover.
  6. Select the media type on the control panel and confirm to start feeding.

3.4 Installing Ink Cartridges

The printer uses 11 individual pigment-based LUCIA PRO II ink tanks plus a Chroma Optimizer. To install or replace ink tanks:

  1. Open the ink tank cover.
  2. Gently push the empty ink tank to release it.
  3. Insert the new ink tank, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
  4. Close the ink tank cover.

4. Operating

4.1 Printing

Once media and ink tanks are loaded, you can send print jobs from your computer or compatible device. The printer supports maximum color print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi and maximum black and white print resolution of 4800 x 1200.

4.2 Media Handling

The printer features intelligent media handling technology to ensure precise feeding and alignment. If the material is skewed, the printer will prompt you to open the lid and lift a lever for manual alignment.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Ink Tank Replacement

Monitor ink levels via the printer's control panel. Replace ink tanks as described in Section 3.4. Always use genuine Canon ink tanks for optimal performance and print quality.

5.2 General Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the print head area free of dust and debris.
