1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your Retekess TR113 Full Band Radio and the accompanying Retekess V115 Portable Radio. These devices are designed to offer a wide range of listening experiences, from standard FM/AM broadcasts to advanced shortwave and aviation bands, along with recording and media playback capabilities.

2. Setup

2.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge both radios. The TR113 uses a Type-C port for charging. The V115 uses a Micro USB port.

  • Connect the provided power adapter to the radio's charging port.
  • Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  • The charging indicator will show the charging status and turn off or change color when fully charged.

2.2 Inserting MicroSD Card (for Recording/MP3 Playback)

Both radios support MicroSD cards for recording and MP3 playback. A MicroSD card is included with the TR113.

  • Locate the MicroSD card slot on the side of the radio (TR113: near the Type-C port; V115: on the side).
  • Gently insert the MicroSD card with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  • To remove, push the card in slightly until it springs out.

3. Operating the Retekess TR113

3.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the POWER button to turn the radio on or off.

3.2 Full Band Reception

The TR113 supports a wide range of frequencies including FM, AM, SW, VHF, UHF, LW, CB, WB, AIR, and SSB. Use the BAND button to cycle through available bands.

3.3 Antenna Modes

The TR113 features multiple antenna modes, including a built-in telescopic antenna and ports for external antennas to enhance signal reception.

3.4 Tuning Methods

The TR113 offers various tuning methods for precise station selection:

  • Digital Tuning: Use the numeric keypad to directly input frequencies.
  • Manual Tuning: Rotate the tuning knob for fine adjustments.
  • Pully Tuning: Utilize the larger tuning wheel for faster frequency changes.
  • Automatic Scan: Press the SCAN button to automatically search and store available stations.

3.5 Presets

The TR113 can store up to 1600 preset stations. Use the PRESET button and tuning controls to navigate and select stored stations.

3.6 Alarm Clock & Sleep Mode

The TR113 includes an alarm clock function and a sleep mode for timed shutdown.

  • Alarm Clock: Set an alarm to wake up to your favorite station. Refer to the on-screen menu for alarm setup.
  • Sleep Mode: Configure the radio to automatically turn off after a set period, ideal for falling asleep while listening.

3.7 Dual-use Type-C Jack

The Type-C port on the TR113 serves as both a charging port and an external speaker audio input.

3.8 APP Control

The TR113 supports APP control for enhanced functionality. Refer to the radio's display or included quick start guide for details on connecting to the companion application.

4. Operating the Retekess V115

4.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the POWER button to turn the radio on or off.

4.2 Radio Bands

The V115 supports FM, AM, and SW bands. Use the MODE button to switch between radio bands and other functions.

4.3 Recording Function

The V115 can record audio to a MicroSD card (not included). It supports three recording modes:

  • MIC Recording: Record external audio via the built-in microphone.
  • AUX Cable Input Recording: Record audio from an external device connected via the AUX input.
  • Radio Recording: Record live radio broadcasts.

To initiate recording, ensure a MicroSD card is inserted and press the REC button.

4.4 MP3 Player

The V115 can play MP3 audio files stored on a MicroSD card.

  • Switch to MP3 mode using the MODE button.
  • Use the navigation buttons to select and play tracks.

4.5 Sleep Timer

The V115 features a sleep timer that can be adjusted from 0 to 90 minutes, allowing the radio to automatically shut down after a set period.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to about 50% every few months.
  • Water Resistance: Note that these radios are not water resistant. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 No Power

  • Ensure the radio is fully charged.
  • Check the power adapter and cable for damage.
  • Press and hold the power button for a few seconds to ensure it's not just a short press.

6.2 Poor Reception

  • Extend the telescopic antenna fully.
  • Try repositioning the radio to a different location, away from electronic interference.
  • For TR113, consider connecting an external antenna for stronger signals, especially on shortwave or aviation bands.
  • Ensure you are on the correct band (FM, AM, SW, etc.) for the station you are trying to receive.

6.3 Recording Not Working (V115)

  • Ensure a MicroSD card is properly inserted.
  • Check if the MicroSD card has sufficient free space.
  • Verify the MicroSD card is formatted correctly (FAT32 is usually recommended).

6.4 MP3 Playback Issues (V115)

  • Ensure MP3 files are stored in the root directory or a recognized folder on the MicroSD card.
  • Check if the audio files are indeed in MP3 format.
